In all serious though, I asked what I could upgrade on my pc and it turns out everything I had was fine. So, I found a cheap 290x on gumtree and just added another in.

Whats shocking is I got around a 95% increase on Heavens benchmark running two which is just epic. From a avg of 54 fps to 103 fps.

Love the twin cards and am shocked there running on a 860w PSU.

Its Corsair AX860 mod.

Might give it a try. But how can a 860w pull 950w? :S

DC/AC conversion then overloading the PSU ;)
Your PSU is rated for 860wDC 92% efficient so that's 930wAC. Then you have your overloaded (overspec) PSU, typically decent ones can pull an extra 10-15% over max rated, only for short periods until they shut off (OCP)

Impressive, i doubt the 860i would suit you as well as your 860.

When benching earlier, my 290x peaked 370w during a 2 min bench!

Your 290X or system? :D
I'll have my 290 by Wednesday, will order a block in a few days. See what clocks i can squeeze from it. Curious to know how much more wattage it takes from the wall as your up the voltage.

Just my 290x!

The peak power on these cards is a lot. Put an extra 250mv on the core and it is even higher!

When running same clock on my other rig which has a 8320 at 5Ghz rather than a 4770k, benchmarks could kick the OCP in, on my 750w Fatal1ty PSU every once in a while. The Original ax860s could run circles around that PSU though.

My main rig has a 1000w Superflower ready to take on another 290x if i ever feel the need to double up.

That's not too bad :D
I don't really rate OCZ PSUs lol, so not surprised it wasn't up to task. My main rig actually has a 500w passive unit :D I'd still run 2 290Ps from it :) Wouldn't be able to overclock though :(

The internals on the Fatal1ty units are quite good to be fair, though there is much better to be had for the same cost.

I'd say two 290s even without the rest of teh system would be ambitious on ANY 500w passive unit, even if it was crafted by Chuck Norris!

Though i admit i would love to see it happen.

Fatality is their top range, isn't it? Still don't like them :D My beef mate, probably nothing wrong with them, just better can be had for the same price (like you pointed out)

I'll get another 290 in a few weeks, see what this first one clocks like. Then for you, i'll put both in my computer :) I'm also running a full loop as well :D
