PowerColor Devil 13 Dual Core R9 290X

I wonder if you have to use individual PCi-E cables and not daisy chained ones, that may pose a issue.

Thats a nice card, Powercolor have put out some good GPUs of late, this one is insane. they are starting to make a good name for themselves.

+1

I am going to be interested to see how the cooler works, it must be up to the job or they would not have given the cards that many power connectors.

You need a

for even thinking about it.

28A each 12V connector, so they are asking for 336W for each 8pin connector.

Or 50 Amps over one dedicated 12v Rail (600 Watts)

The reference 2905x2 has a power limit of 500 Watts, anything more than that and it will throttle to keep it within 500 Watts.
Of course you can turn the power limit up in MSI AB and even CCC to allow it it draw more power.

Nothing wrong with daisy chained cables unless you are looking at a lot of power consumption. Heck, I use daisy chain cables with my SLI 780Ti KPE setup without any noticeable issue.

Just a recommendation, nothing more. I have gone way past the ATX theoretical limits myself without problems. Just be sure your PSU is good enough.

Much better design power wise than other ones. The other 295s and 290xs rely on the user having a PSU capable of delivering more than the rated 150w pert 8 pin or 75w per 6 pin. Though most PSUs have been over speced and can do this no problem, if you get unlucky with some rail designs it can trigger OCP.

The cooler will be enough to cool the card well enough ona test bench or in a very very airy case but i can imagine in many rigs this card would create too much heat in the case. The AIO version at least expels most of the heat out of the case through the radiator. Interested to see the price difference between this and the AIO version.
