Bristol giant water slide sees thrill-seekers soaked

I literally felt the splashing and the screaming and the pushing and shoving while watching that video.

It was a nice idea and a friend of mine managed to get a go, but I think everyone expected it to be a bit faster. I'm sure I read somewhere that the artist behind it wanted to promote the idea of using slides to connect areas of the city.

Might have been faster on somewhere like St. Michael's hill or Marlborough hill as I swear they're steeper but not as central as Park street I guess.

Love Bristol for this. Nowhere else would get away with this and I'm proud to live somewhere that does things a bit differently. It might have been a bit **** and a bit slow but at the end of the day it's a high street in the middle of a city which had to be closed for an entire day for a bit of a laugh, who cares!

Also Eat Drink Bristol Fashion (aka the food tipis) is right outside my office so I'm literally there every day :p or hating those that are...

Lots more water mixed with lube and it would have been better I recon

Ditch the lilos for something smaller. Like a bodyboard covered in lube

Nanny state fun pff i thought it would go down the whole street and past shops and actually pick up some speed but instead it seemed slow and short and designed for 9-13 year olds. And they want to regulate and ban the fun stuff like cheese wheel race for this? Next we wont be allowed to leave the house without float wings and protective helmets on.

Exactly this. Am proud to come from and live in a City that does this sort of thing. Plus it summed up the day before because it was blue and people were going down. Bit like r*vers getting lobbed out the football league :D

They've made a video which is quite nice for all you grumpy lot to watch.

Great video thanks for sharing. I was out of the city so missed it myself but you can see by the number of people who were out enjoying the sun that it was a success. Walking up Park Street at about 8pm yesterday I could tell it had helped get people out into the bars and pubs for the bank holiday too.

I agree I love Bristol for things like this, the fact that it doesn't take itself too seriously as a city and that they have fun and interesting events fairly regularly. It's a great place!

When's the last time anyone went on a sloppy slide,

Maybe just I'm the odd one out, but we do it every summer on a massive builders tarpaulin down the hill in the back garden. And a mate who went to the Bristol one yesterday said that he does one every year on his farm with a silage sheet. :p

LOL.

Is there any news on whether the new stadiums going to go ahead now?

No idea, official line is it's all still going ahead, but can see lots of sponsors pulling out.

The demolition of the 1st stand of the only league team in Bristol has begun though, and our redevelopment is beginning. At last :)
