Yes it does.
I think the Wiki is wrong, I'm running 5120x1080 from a mini DP.

Yes it does.
The following year, in early 2009, VESA announced that Mini DisplayPort would be included in the upcoming DisplayPort 1.2 specification. On 24 February 2011, Apple and Intel announced Thunderbolt, a successor to Mini DisplayPort which adds support for PCI Express data connections while maintaining backwards compatibility with Mini DisplayPort based peripherals.
I think the Wiki is wrong, I'm running 5120x1080 from a mini DP.
But as I said above if anyone can show me where to get a Mini DP cable from that can handle the bandwidth and is compactable with todays graphics cards and 4K monitors I would be quite pleased.
I may be missing something here, but isn't a Mini DP cable just a DP cable with a smaller connector on the end? so the cable itself will be up to the job, and the connector should be too as it's so similar to Thunderbolt.
Ill see if I can find anything concrete.
An updated DisplayPort specification will let you drive 4K x 2K display with 30 bits per pixel and 3D over a single cable. Display Port (DP), a royalty-free digital display interconnect put forth by the VESA and adopted by major industry players, has been updated to version 1.2 at the CES 2010 in Las Vegas. Display Port 1.2 will double performance, enable multiple streams, support stereoscopic images beyond full HD and at true 120Hz refresh rate, enable a high-speed data channel, and support mini connectors. DP 1.2 supports 5.4Gbps per lane, enough to make possible new displays that require up to a whopping 21.6Gbps, like 3D monitors that go beyond full HD while maintaining a true 120Hz refresh rate.
Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable for use with Apple computers or graphics cards with mini DisplayPort output.

• Gold connectors
I am not sure that says you get the full bandwidth when using a mini DP ?
I'm running a Panasonic TX 50AX802B 4k tv as a monitor. 3480x2160 @ 60Hz via a mini DP to DP is not a problem. This from a pair of Powercolor LCS HD 7970s.
Here's concrete proof

4K screens running off a V9800 (output is 6x mini DP).
What is there to stop them using two of the outputs the same as the 295X2 ?
Because it had 6x 4K screens attached via 6x mini DP ports according to the article![]()
At the heart of the Sundance House was an HP Z820 workstation, with an AMD FirePro v9800 driving a 6-display setup used to edit 4K footage in Adobe SpeedGrade CS6 and Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 under Windows 8.
Could you give me the link for the cable you are using please.
Getting it to work: What you will need
A Sharp PN-K321, Asus PQ321Q or Asus PQ321QE display
One or more NVIDIA cards supporting DisplayPort v1.2 (7xx and 6xx cards should work)
A displayport cable with the correct connector for your card (DP or mini-DP)
The latest beta firmware for the Sharp/Asus monitor
NVIDIA 331.65 WHQL drivers
