PowerColor Devil 13 Dual Core R9 290X

No there are plenty of sources saying 1600p max.

Where are these plenty of sources? You posted in a wikipedia article that has no references to cite that statement in there which can be edited by anyone if need be and an OcUK link to a DP cable that does not state what version of DP it follows. Anything else?

From AMD's "Hail to the King"

Thanks to AMD Eyefinity technology, the AMD Radeon™ R9 295X2 natively supports up to five simultaneous displays without adapters.1 And if you throw in some DisplayPort™ 1.2 daisychaining or a DisplayPort™ hub, then you could have up to six displays at the same time! With the provided ports, you could even try your hand at some 12K gaming.

AMD don't know what they are talking about...?

lol, last page and some is all about one guy and his nescience.

Guys leave off him, it's a genuine question and only just answered. Until I found that info from Nvidia the was nothing concrete to say you can do 4K over a MDP and actual evidence that you can't (under the old spec).

Don't worry about it.:D

Even the link you gave does not really clarify it.

It mentions Maximum Digital Resolution supported. It also lists the connectors on a GTX 690 but it does not say how many of them or which ones to use for 4K.

All I am doing here is keeping an open mind and not making assumptions until I get an answer back from Displayport.org

What I would be interested in is what Gregster has to say as it probably has the answer in the manual for his monitor.

The evidence is everywhere...

With AMD gpus and with current drivers, you CAN simply open up catalyst and click down on the information tab to show DisplayPort Diagnostics.

This will show how much bandwidth is available and how much you are using. In other words its on every darn card with a mdp or dp!

I'm using 96% of the available 20.76Gbps to power two 1080P@144hz off of one mini displayport.

You really seem to have an axe to grind lol.

I will keep an open mind until the experts (Displayport.org) or someone with a 4K monitor confirms that a single Mini DP works. When that happens we will all know what the score is and the subject will be closed.

Crikey and I've just told you it does.... I'm using it now, as we speak.
My output is from my LCS 7970 via mini Dp to DP (albeit with an adapter in between) 3840x2160 @ 60 Hz
Come here and I'll show you LOL

He's Rangers mate from OCN. Suddenly it all becomes clear. :D ;)

Ah so not the Lone Ranger.:D

What I want to nail down 100% is what connectivity is needed for 4K as this question will be asked on these forums many times in the next 12 months.

Hopefully Gregster may to be able to clarify it with the manual for his monitor.

You have told me you are using it with a TV, for all I know it could be defaulting to 30htz.

After seeing the problems KaRLiToS has had with connectivity I am taking nothing for granted until I know it works.

******* hell, at this rate, I will be able to bake a potato in my computer, no need for a oven. my computer already has replaced my central heating as it is!

Welcome to the forums. You will last long with that attitude :)

I also searched and found a couple of articles that state that mDP gives a max display of 2560x1600, so not very fair to have a dig.

If it does support UHD (or even higher), it would be sweet and someone will have to confirm, as I don't have a mDP on my cards. The manual was all in korean and doesn't look like it gives any info either.

lol so did I :D

Kaap, I wasn't really digging at ya. More like trying to get this settled so the off-topic discussion could be done with.

I guess you must have been "burnt" a few times on the net to be so untrusting.
So here

I'm a retired professional, and not that stupid to spend this amount of money on a TV/Monitor that only runs at 30Hz. I like my bit of BF4 et al, along with the next bloke.
These sets have only been available in UK since 1 May and I got one straight away, not regretted it since.
Supports both DP 1.2a and HDMI 2.0
