I currently have a 1.2 Fiesta Zetec (I am happy with it around town except it just doesnt cut it on the motorway journeys I seem to do now!)

So this year I'll probably cover about 17/20k miles (combination of work and leisure) thus I have my eyes on a Zetec S diesel (1.6) insurance wise it barely changes my premium however I suspect for the longer journeys along the motorways the return in MPG might soon add up?

Bearing in mind my fiesta has covered almost 40k miles - trading it in directly against a car with 40k miles am I mad or do I just take it and drive it until it falls apart? or do I just stick with the lowly 1.2 Petrol

Whilst the fiesta is quite refined for a small car, I'd be far more inclined to move from your 1.2 up to a larger car (focus size as a minimum) for the mileage you're covering if it's going to be the norm for the forseeable future.

With the right engine you won't lose much in the way of economy compared with the zetec s 1.6 diseasel but bigger cars are substantially better to travel in for long distances.

Personally I really notice the extra width in the cabin, makes for a more relaxing drive

Which age fiesta? The newest one are much bigger, but the 2003-2008 shape, I find to be quite tinny. Whilst the same size, I find my mk4 ibiza much better on the motorway.

I've looked at the Focus (even test drove a few and I just cant get along with them!) My main issue is this week I may be in/around the city all week yet next it could be North Wales / Birmingham I just dont know!

I may go test drive another couple (its not something I am jumping into buying tomorrow!) so I have abit of time to decide if it'll deffo work out to be worth it or not

My current Fiesta is a 59 plate - its large enough to fit my work items in without compromising the little run around at weekends

If you're going to be doing a lot of motorway miles and 100% sticking with a fiesta, I'd recommend the titanium because they come with cruise control. Makes a massive difference.

Touche! Ive been looking at the titanium aswell - I like the idea of cruise control (such a convincing arguement to get one!)

I do t specifically mean the focus or nothing else - personally I dislike the mk3 greatly, just meant that size of car

I think its purely the vast selection of cars thats daunting when coming to something like this! I guess I am best off heading down and testing a few others out
