MSI RMA status story on GTX 780 Ti

MSI are an utter disgrace of a company and they never used to be like this! **** poor customer support and excuses, I'd not recommend using them again.

New management perhaps?

They have had a tough time of it since the 7950 debacle. Maybe they are feeling the pinch of so many problems since then and are trying to catch people out on RMA's?

I hear you mate.......oh dear looks like I made the wrong brand choice here then unless they come back to me soon!

OcUK need to adopt Amazons approach on RMA... straight swap replacement, if not stocked anymore - credit in full.

Quick and simple as that, regardless if it's MSI, Gigabyte, or Asus, any product for that matter for the full duration of the warranty.

Agreed. It is simply the best service going.

If you push them and it's in stock they should give you a replacement. If they've no stock it's obviously a bit different but a full credit should definitely be an option

Hello AWPC,

I am sorry to hear of this issue, can you provide me the RMA number and I can have a look to see what's going on for you?

Thanks

Bailey

Not good news, I just bought an MSI 780ti too. However I do question the 28 day replacement policy. You haven't entered a contract with MSI, you entered a contract with the retailer (in this case OCUK). Therefore the Sale of Goods Act applies, I can't remember what the act says about replacement / refund times but 1 month does seems excessive. There has to be an "acceptable" upper limit else all retailers would start saying 2, 4, 8 month turnarounds e.t.c.

RMA also depends on the country you live in, fx here in denmark where i live if a product fails(on its own and not because i put a knife to the pcb :) ) and there are no replacement/no repair possible im garantied to get the full amount i paid, at the time of purchase, back within the first 2 years of warrenty and its the stores job to give me that not the manufacture. Also within the first 6 months from purchase its the Stores job to prove that the product has been mishandled, where the last 18 months its my job to prove that the product is faulty on its own. Basic legal buuhaagi, normaly RMAing is quiet easy and straight forward.

At a very basic level - If a product is found to be faulty on receipt or within 3-4 weeks of receipt, you're entitled to a full refund. If within about 6 months, it's more likely to be a repair/replacement. However, the onus is usually on the retailer to prove the product has not been misused in any way, for which they often refer to the manufacturer. Outside of that 6 months, the same applies but with responsibility of proof on the buyer.
There's a lot more to it than that though, including other rights and stuff, so check with your local Trading Standards guys - They'll have a freephone advice line.

This!

If a product is found to be faulty OCUK should replace it end of, and then OCUK should deal with MSI directly

Then what do you suppose they do with all the repaired boards they then receive them back?
This is how its always been, I admit that 28days is a long time, but there is a section here on RMA's so you cant be surprised when it takes 28 days.
I know I would be gutted if mine went wrong, but I knew the chances when I bought it. This is why I like to try and buy gigabyte a lot.

I must say that in my place /Czech Republic/ you are bound by a contract with the vendor as well and the vendor has to replace the faulty product or pay the money back within one month. But the best warranty policy is inGermany as the vendors over there are very generous and act really swiftly.
Not counting that you got 10-15% higher prices in the U.K. OCUK should act in a different way having the prices at that level. ;)
