Want to know what you'll be playing on your PlayStation 5 or Xbox Two in the next decade? Take a look at K-putt's Crysis 3 resolution hack. His tweak to the first-person shooter's main Windows program file lets the game's visuals run at up to a very wide 8K (specifically, 8,000 x 3,333). That's about 13 times more pixels than you'd see in a 1080p image, folks. The results very nearly speak for themselves -- screenshots look more like paintings, and even tiny objects are full of detail.

The next decade of gaming im sure will give more than just pixels.
Nevertheless, nice I suppose.

Be very cool being able to revisit old games in 8K, it will be like a newish experience. All the littlest of details brought to life. No more jaggies, like at all..

The lighting and details in those Crysis 3 shots are stunning, the extra resolution brings it to life where it almost looks like a painting or photo..

Bring on the 8K and a monster GPU to run it !

Very nice indeed, it's going to be quite some time indeed before this becomes anywhere near mainstream mind you - unless if there is a revolution in computing soon (which could always happen). Maintaining 60fps at 8000x3333 resolution means "pushing" 1.6 billion pixels per second, that's encroaching on supercomputer territory, especially when you are playing an extremely graphically intensive game at that resolution.

Wow even WOT looks amazing. I wonder what the actual texture sizes are in bioshock are they 4090x4096? I dont believe we can do 8k textures yet can we i have never saw any 8096x8096 texture files.

Someday our childhood friends Mr Vertical Sync and Mr Antialiasing will be leaving us and we will pretty much be using AF at a driver level. God i hope it comes soon :|

high res is good, but tbh there's more than just graphics to a game, take minecraft [weird example i know, but theres many more], a game with almost non-existant graphics [even with x512 textures], no plot [although plots are good], not much physics and little else in game mechanics.

its still a good game...

And yet, the link to them screenshots, the image quality looks the same on my iphone as it does on my 1080 monitor? :D

Granted, it would be absolutely amazing to have a humongous monitor sat in front of me that is 4k or 8k, and then to have a insain 295x quad fire, ultrabazooka liquid nitrogen cooled overclocked etc.

But them screenshots though, all that is is some fancy shaders and mods etc? I surely don't see how it can look any better 8k on a what, 60 inch tv sat 10 foot away, rather than playing the same game, 1080p with the same shaders mods etc and sat 2 foot away from your monitor, if your happy with the size of your monitor and how you like to play what is the need in 4k 8k? just a lot of expense and electricity bills.

I mean, I had a 22" monitor from hmm, 2007 till 4 months ago, 1680x1050 res, and it died, due to my drunken stupidity coming home from a bank holiday, kinda well, fell into it and my elbow went through it, and some how got my head wedged down the back of my desk between the wall, don't ask how! :P but I got my self a 24" 1080p monitor, picked up a second 7950 for crossfire for the top end games that I play that my single card couldn't run maxed out etc, I cant see why id need to spend 1000s on anything more than this setup tbh!
