Some good info on here but want to run this by the forum before I make a decision.

Sound card: Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium

I'm looking for some all rounder headphones, for gaming, music, movies etc.

I'm currently using some HD201's & tbh I don't rate them at all! Some quick research shows the CAL's popping up quite often, just seems like they have been around forever. Has anything newer/better come along for the price bracket?

Nope. CALs are still the way forward - unless you get lucky and find some HD598s 2nd hand (they're normally £75ish though).

I preferred the Skull Candy Aviator. More balance, quite warm with a nice mid range tone and better built. I think they may have gone up in price slightly though.

The CAL are pretty good though for the price so I can't really critique them

HD 595 are £65-£75 second hand buddy, the HD 598 go for about £100-£120 second hand.

I would personally put the £20 extra in and get 595's, in fact I did before I then just went and got X1's for £140.

If you only have £50 though get cal's through flubit probably cost you like £45

I had a look into the X1's & would love a pair but I'm hoping to make other upgrades so need the cash!

I followed your link & went through the steps, when I get to the sign up or login page I get the below pop up in red:

"We are still experiencing high demand for our service, you will receive your invitational code shortly"

you should get an email with a code in it shortly which you type in to activate your account, after that you copy and paste an amazon link to the product you want and they come back with a cheaper price within 24 hours usually

Lindy along with the HM5 are clones of the 003. They are a bargain.

This is true and was my entry 'phone into "mid-fi". Fantastic for the money, but truly huge and not that comfortable over long periods (I start to tire of mine after about 2 hours max). I've yet to see them under £75 though?

Sozm8...I forgot prices could have fluctuated since I last looked or even last posted...

Secondly, he already bought the CALs... :o ;)

Personally I like the logitech UE6000 (passive mode) at that price, you can get them for £50-70. CAL's are good but also they are tiny and sound small as well.
