A virtual replica of Denmark created to help educate children has been disrupted by "cyber vandals".

Small portions of it were blown up, despite a ban by its creators, the Danish Geodata Agency (DGA), on the use of "dynamite".

Large US flags were erected at the starting area, as well as red, white and blue "America" signs.

The state-owned agency believes the "vandalism" was to attract attention, and said the damage had been repaired.

It wasn't even hand built!
The city was not "hand-built" - the topographical data of Denmark was imported into Minecraft, which is also available as a free download on the DGA's website.

Are the BBC going to report on every server that gets griefed now?

Really tame compared to the griefing that used to go on in second life.

They also received coverage for an earlier attack on a room where Second Life user Anshe Chung was being interviewed about her claims to have made the 'virtual property' equivalent of over one million dollars off the game. The room was invaded by flying penises.[20] This incident was also attributed to the "Room 101" group.[21][22]

They've been very social media based over the last 2 years, even reports contains quotes from twitter users.

Beginning to lose my interest in reading BBC news, but there aren't anyone out there as reliable... DM/Fox News *shudders*

Indeed. Don't get me wrong, I've spent hundreds of hours in MC, but to see it on front page of BBC news (albeit under the Technology heading) was rather strange :p

Also flying penises are just the best :D
