After A New Bedroom TV

I'm about to move in to my new home which has just finished being adapted to suit my needs.

I'm looking for a new TV for my bedroom and I'd like some advice.

Requirements
  • 40" - 42" Screen
  • LED - With good picture quality
  • Freeview HD
  • Smart TV Services - Netflix & Amazon Instant Video along with catchup services (iPlayer, 4OD etc)

Budget £500.00

If anyone has any recommendations for both pan/tilt and swing arm brackets, that would also be great.

buy the best sony for your budget that john lewis sell.

why? because john lewis have the best customer service, returns and repair service on the planet and give free 5 year warranty with every tv sold. also Sony > all others in the tv market currently.

LOL Got to agree.

Also check out Richer Sounds who also offer the same level of customer service as JL.

Something this this: http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/sony/bravia-kdl40r483bbu/sony-kdl40r483bbu

Thanks for the advice. Sony is the way to go then, is the Samsung I posted the link to not worth it then?

I would rate samsung and panasonic second behind sony, but that is a "budget" model as is pretty much everything under £500 tbh.

It's when you go over £500 that tv's start to get a lot better at everything tbh.

The tv i linked to for £600 is very very highly reviewed on hdtvtest and avforums.

I would try and get that, if you think about the fact the tv will be used for 5-10 years, another £100 over your budget is like £10-£20 per year for a substantially better tv.

I know it can seem like a lot of money up front but it will be worth it in the long run.

My first tv that I bought personally with my own money cost me £900 was only 32 inch and 720P it was a poor uninformed choice.

I got a 50" 1080P top of the range panny plasma 10 years later for £799 with free 5 year warranty and 3d glasses and I will be keeping this tv for at least another 4-9 years as I only got it last year.
