ello chaps,

just a quick one I hope.. im currently running 2x Gainward GTX 580 Gainward Phantoms in SLI and wanna upgrade erm.. looking on overclockers site as of writing this message there are two i'm interested in that are on the weekly sale, not sure which to go for. They are:

Gainward GeForce GTX 780 Phantom GLH 3072MB GDDR5 - £379.99

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 WindForce 3x OC Rev2.0 3072MB GDDR5 - £359.99

I know the Windforce is cheaper but i'm used to the phantom cards and the GLH edition seems to run faster out the box.

Will I be able to overclock the windforce just as well as the phantom anyway? is the cooler on the windforce better than the phantoms?

I suppose trhe main question here is 'is it worth paying the little extra for the phantoms GLH's?'

Thanks for any help that can be given :D

Cheers guys

My windforce rev 2 boosted to 1110 out of the box with a custom bios it lives at 1267 core in all games. Cooler seems fine i have a custom curve never gets above 71c even when my rooms at 35c (fires about 3 metre's oppsite my pc keeps me warm not so good for my pc :)

When it comes to overclocking they will likely be much of a muchness and down to silicon lottery which one happens to overclock better.

The gigabyte should manage decent out the clock boosts and sustain them due to the quality of the heatsink.

Both are good cards if it comes down purely to is it worth paying extra for one over the other I'd have to say no - if you prefer one brand over another then thats another matter as personally I'll spend a little extra to go with a brand I have a history with even when dealing with otherwise similiar/identical hardware.

Hey guys, thanks for your replys..

The iChill does look like a good shout but my funds are being pushed as it is (im getting two so the extra costs will be doubled).
Yea, i was leaning more for the gigabyte as I had a feeling there would be much in it between the two and the saving is pretty good. The 580s where my first phantoms so not much of a history.. and they were a pain to overclock to be honest :)

Thanks guys, you have helped.. ill look into getting the Windforce before the end of sale / sell out

Cheers again

I've got the Gigabyte one and the cooler is fantastic. This is my third Windforce GPU and with their warranty and support I'd always go Gigabyte personally.

Yea im well happy with what I went for now that I look back at the choices I had.. Already started downloading all the games off steam and Origin that I was holding back until I upgraded ready for their arrival, but I don't think ill get mine till early next week.. which is cool.

Hope you enjoy your new card mate, I know I will :D

I got a Zotac 780 OC this week which is very similar to the windforce, very happy with it but I got it for less than £330.

I was reading about those the other day. They seem to run really well, and have a good cooler. Did you get it off the bay? I noticed they were £360 to be honest.

No i got it from another well knowing company on a Today only offer, so with Watch Dogs included worked out at £300, plus i sold my GTX 670 for £140!

In my CM Scout case (too small for my card so removed the black metal cover to ram it in lol) it runs at 68 degrees at 55% in BF4 and I have crap airflow mate! 5 years warranty too! Gigabyte are really good too though

Ok, thanks. Good price for that performance ! Bittech gave them a good review. The cooler runs quite quiet, and there is nice VRM heatsinks.

Here is a picture if you ever wanted to see inside them!

Cool cheers mate. I am happy with it, other that the fact I didn't check it would fit before I got it lol! Lucky I could take the black cover off doh!

Was going to get the KFA2 HOF because of the white PCB buit at the extra 60-70 or so I couldn't justify it. will be taking delivery between 1.30 to 2.30 then build the system :)

Just bought 2 of the windforce ones! should be a decent performance boost over my 690 which i'm selling...should get around 350 for it
