Motorola Moto X+

I'm really annoyed with the size increase. Every review praised the device for its reasonable display size - why change it? My only hope is that this time, screen size customisation is part of Moto maker, with you being able to choose 5.2" or 4.7" and everything else being the same. If it is $400 though, that's fantastic.

Don't believe the changes until it's properly announced.

+1, Moto made a huge deal about the size last time around, saying they did a huge amount of research and found the Moto X to be the perfect size. I think the only change they need to do is really improve the screen I personally pray for a 4.7" S5 screen , camera, and more competitive SoC. I wouldn't mind if the SoC was still dual core as opposed to quad core.

Build/Size/Ergonomics are all top notch.

+1 Fallen God

I love the feel of the Moto X - it's near perfect in hand. My wishlist for the next generation would just be faster internals and maybe some metal on the casing, just to make it feel a little more premium. Even if not, it'll still be great.

The rumours almost always turn out to be accurate.

We'll find out for sure in a few days.

I'm also wondering (FallenGod) why a new version of the Moto X would go with with a 5.2" screen? 5" maybe but after all the talk of the perfect size when original X was released  May work in a super skinny body/chassis? Moto X size wise I thought is bang on. Don't want something tablet sized in my pocket at work which can be 1, uncomfortable and 2, at far more risk of breaking.

I'll probably stick with the original Moto X as I've not had it all that long. The only negative for me is the limited storage and even then I've got round that by using Google Music. Never had a single stutter in the car (on Three) and I have stream quality of high. No longer find the need to fill memory with music.

Never say never though :D and Moto Maker in the UK may be tempting - not that we've heard anymore about that. A choice of screen sizes may be the way forward though I'll admit I've no idea how practical that would be.

I'm so happy. Leaked images of the Moto E seem to show front facing speakers, which means the X+1 is very likely to feature them too. The only other thing I wish for is either a microSD slot, or a 64GB model.

I've not seen the pictures but it may make the phone bigger (longer) than it needs be as per the HTC One? Having had a One with front facing speakers in the past I'm not sure they are really worth the extra body room required to house them. But, each to their own as they say ;)

Agreed for most normal use standard phone speakers are fine and when you want more a decent bt speaker will far outclass even the great m7/8 front facing speakers as my mate found out when he took on my kitsound hive which I got from Sainsbury for £30 after he bragged about his HO.

You can't exactly put those speakers inside your trouser pockets though can you? And it's kind of obvious that a dedicated device specifically made to output sound is going to have superior audio to something which is multifunctional.

Me personally, I see no reason why front facing speakers aren't industry standard. Or at the very least have the speaker holes along the top edge or something. It just makes sense to have the sound face your ears, and I can't believe it's taken companies all these years to figure it out. Of course I would prefer it if they managed to do it elegantly like with the Xperia Z2, but for the benefit, a design like the HTC One's is fine by me too.

As for the Moto E's implementation of it, I'll be honest it does look a little naff.

The bottom bit almost looks as if it still had capacitive buttons, and then decided to scrap them but there's still quite a bit of space there.

I can only hope this is because this is a budget phone, and (hopefully) the X+1's will have more effort put into it.

Although front facing speakers would be nice, the bezel on the X is tiny, I wouldn't want to see it made larger.

Seems the E has an SD card though, good news. Hopefully we see this in the X+, or preferably 32GB as standard with 64GB available.

Along the rim is what I've been sayin too, I can't stand none screen real estate, when out and about where your trousers can't accommodate the hive what need have you of superior speakers? It's like the one handed use discussion when do you need one handed use while still being legal or socially aware?

Are you sure those slots are not just the speaker at the top and mic at the bottom rather than front facing speakers as per HTC One.

I have a broken HTC One and a Moto X. Those front facing speakers aren't a big deal (IMO of course). They generally make a better sound but sooner have a compact a body as possible when the screen is 4.7 inches and above. Apart from calls most other sound is played through ear buds or vehicle sound system via BT or even Chromecast and the TV. But that is just me and everyone else will use their phone differently. Top and bottom edge could work though :D

It's unlikely the bars are simply the speaker and mic. Well, the top bar could be the speaker, but I don't know of a single phone which needs an entire bar for a microphone opening. Pretty much every phone I can think of simply needs a little needle sized hole, or at the very most a couple of slits or something. There's also no speaker holes on the back, and there's no space for them on the top or bottom, so by deduction the bars are most likely both speakers. We'll find out of Tuesday though I guess.

The size of the Moto X is perfect, decent size screen in a body that not much bigger than an iPhone 5.

If they made the Moto X+1 with the same 4.7" screen bump up the screen rez to 1080p, add a SD card slot & 32GB internal as standard, along with the latest 801 snapdragon chipset, plus a camera that can match the likes of Samsung ect, in a body same size as the current Moto X along with Moto Maker in Europe, then Motorola would be onto a winner I think over here.

Will that happen probably not, but eitherway as it stands the Moto X is pretty much perfect for me now, plus it be one of the first handset's after the Nexus line to get 4.4.3 aswell.

Yep, crossed my mind too regards the mic as most if not all are a small hole. But you never know with Motorola ;)
