**The big ol' Z97 thread!**

Gene for me to. I think waiting for x99 is probably not worth it just for games, will make my mind up for sure depending how good devils canyon is.

I wanted to wait for x99 too, but i cant be bothered waiting till September. Plus apparently the 8 core variants will not be good overclockers.

Hmmmm reckon my budget will be £150 for a Z97 board...

Currently running a MSI Z77A-GD65 so probably stay with MSI as been really impressed with the board. So looking like one of the following with a Gigabyte or two thrown in to confuse matters :)

  • MSI Z97 Gaming 7
  • MSI Z97 MPower
  • MSI Z97 MPower AC
  • GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-SOC
  • GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-SOC Force
  • GA-Z97X-Gaming 7
  • GA-Z97X-Gaming GT
Hmmmmmm.....

Guys I'm currently using the asus maximus extreme vi and it's great But it's got too many bells and whistles, which cheaper Gigabyte board will give me comparable overclocks

No PLX but great clocking go Giga Z97 XOC Force. Tested it myself excellent perf with one or two cards.

MSI M Power I have also tested. Solid board not quite as efficient as Gig OC Force though. Giga OC not as good this time as they removed some CPU power phases. With Giga feel the Force!!!

Have you had any feedback from Vince on the z97 classified?

Apparently the memory tuning options on it is supposed to be incredible

Argh, too many options!

I noticed some of the Gigabyte boards have different combinations of features around the audio side of things. Some have Soundblaster software enhancement, some have hardware enhancement, some with 'improved audio capacitors', Wolfson DACs and isolated USB ports for use with USB DACs....

I'm a bit gutted:( Bought and paid for a pre build last week not knowing that the Z97 was out this weekend! Bah... called OCuk but they'd already built the system:( Not blaming OCuk, blaming myself really for not keeping up with current events. I feel like a fool! Oh well I'm sure my G1 Sniper Z87 mobo will be just fine.

When is the Z97 boards going to be available to order? I saw a bunch of them pop up on OC last night but then they disappeared ?

lol!!

Who told you this???

Anymore than 4 cores on a Haswell CPU may be more trouble than it's worth for gaming or even benching. The mainstream Haswell CPUs are not known for their overclocking abilities and if intel add another 4 cores without making some changes we could end up with an eight core CPU that struggles to get above 4.0ghz.

I hope I am wrong.

Good morning ppl, Z97 (& H97) are going live now, just waiting on the upload :D

to pre-empt some questions...

Most Gigabyte is due either side of next weekend, most Asus and MSI should arrive in the next few days, ETAs shown are close but still estimated
All of the boards listed are on the way.
There is no Asrock listed because Asrock are late with launch info and as of Friday there was no ETA or pricing. I'll get them listed as soon as I have that info.
I will list new boards and and when I'm given an estimated delivery date.
& yes, the Gigabyte SOC Force is OcUK exclusive in for the UK, if you see them listed elsewhere by another UK reseller I'm afraid that they will either never get stock or they've purchased from overseas and those boards won't carry a valid UK warranty.
On the subject of Gigabyte warranty, there is a new warranty structure with extended warranties on Gaming and black series boards, the length of warranty is included in our specifications listing.
Our pricing should be pretty aggressive right off the bat, in the unlikely event that you find a UK reseller undercutting us by a significant amount please feel free to drop me a trust message or drop a message into our customer service section. I'm determined to offer you excellent value.

Betcha Asus mess up the Flagships again like current Z87's, the Z68 and Z77 were nicer.

EVGA looks good for a change E-ATX (can use top GPU slot with big heatsinks unlike ATX) and Heatpipes for Cooling in Chipset+2 NICS.

I should not have bought this set up so late on (Jan 2014) as I had a 2700k+Z68 Rog.
