Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [8th May - 17th May 2014]

Liverpool almost pulled of the greatest title win since 85. They had it in the bag with the run in they had especially after 12 wins on the trot. Some great football and far out performed where most thought they would be.

City finish where 99% thought they would. I think it will be harder for them next year. It's not like they can go and spend if the fair play rules actually come into effect or amount to anything. I find Manu being overjoyed at not getting into the Europa odd. They could have blooded young and in experienced players in europe and built confidence by actually winning it.

FFP only applies in European competition apparently. So the size of the squad and all that wont make the blindest bit of difference to City

You couldn't see this when Villa and Cardiff were both beating City and they were languishing down in midtable. Pelligrini has done a good job and plays a lot better football than Mancini ever did.

And Sky Go works just in time. Oh wait. Funny that its about 30 seconds behind the stream I'm watching which is probably better quality as well.

Strange match today. Newcastle came to make things hard and we were very flat. We were unfortunate not to go ahead when Suarez's free-kick was ruled out and I thought the worst when Skrtel again managed to slice his clearance into his own net.

Thankfully Newcastle being Newcastle they were always capable of blowing up and we were level and ahead in the blink of an eye. A couple of strange red cards for Newcastle - you don't often see a player get 2 yellows for dissent in the space of 5 seconds and the 2nd red was very harsh, I can only assume the officials only saw the follow through and not the actual challenge.

10 months ago (even 2 months ago) I'd have ripped your hand off if I was offered 2nd place but having come so close it's hard not to be disappointed. A fantastic season from us and I'm sure there are 18 other clubs that wish they were sitter here feeling disappointed at only coming 2nd.
Yep, best mixture of attack and defence. Have to wonder how much better Chelsea could've done with a proper striker though.

Or manager.

Ball was clearly moving when Suarez kicked it, how's that unfortunate

Dunno how not having the best manager in the world would get them more points and goals

:p

The best manager in the world has finished 3rd with the 2nd strongest squad in the league. Directly on the back of a complete failure with the most expensive and arguably strongest squad in world football.

Everybody is saying what Chelsea might have achieve with a striker so why didn't they sign 1? There must have been somebody out there better than Torres, Ba and Eto.
