So, I've had a 290X for around 2-3 months and I can tell you am already bored of it. It struggles to hold stable FPS, I even have two 290x and am now getting artifact issues, Blue screens and unstable/crashing drivers.

These cards are not overclocked, Factory clocks and voltage. Both cards do the samething, Am getting ready to sell them both, Grab a 780TI and never go back sadly. I've tried everything to keep these cards to run half decent.

What do you mean struggles to hold a stable fps? What are you running?
If they're faulty RMA them.

Sent one back for RMA, They refused claiming it starts up and runs fine. So no RMA.

Anything FPS, Compare BF4 with a 290x and 780ti. The 780 rarely drops below 60fps where is the 290x is 40-70. I can reflect that it does this in most demanding games.

I was the same, bought the 290X. The stock cooler was truly awful, loud / hot. So had some fun ghetto modding it, but got bored of it quickly. Jumped onto the GTX 780Ti and honestly the 290X doesn't come close. No need to mod / water cool. My two run at 1200mhz + with stock air cooling in SLI. Awesome cards. Could always sell your 290X and jump over the dark side.

Do you have ref TIs Boom? I'm curious as to what temps you get with your cards at stock and with that OC profile :)

Sounds like a stability issue with your computer or a possible PEBKAC issue to be honest.

Have you tried running your cpu/memory at stock?

Post some 290X crossfire benchmarks so we can compare and see what performance you're getting. Use a game with an ingame benchmark tool, such as Dirt Showdown, Sleeping Dogs, Tomb Raider, Firestrike, etc and post your results here.

Something is definitely up then a single 290x should have no issue holding 60fps on bf4 full ultra. Anything to 1440p I would say.

What cpu you got?

Have had an uphill struggle with my 290s, but I expect that from Amd cards. Think finally all sorted.

I stick with them for better triple screen support. I believe nvidia may have fixed the issues I had on this front but don't feel like swapping back just yet.

The 290s are OK, but I loved the 780s I had.

This guy :P

The AMD drivers are awful, rarely updated and just silly. I love nvidias drivers and how often they are updated. Honestly, These cards are not worth the money whatso ever.

I've ran benchmarks like heaven and such and got good results BUT THESE ARE BENCHMARKS! Not games, 1 game of which supports mantle and even then its buggy/silly at the moment.

I actually agree as mine keeps telling me pointless anecdotes about its time at the fabrication plant. Such a bore.

Same here (Gigabyte Windforce R9 290 OC) - over 100fps in fact (from the BF4 internal frame rate thingy).

Only get this FPS when using mantle, But mantle has huge CPU problems and massive frame drops. Unplayable and so reflecting DX11 to what I get. Around 60fps and drops to 40 fps when stuff gets busy.
