Thinking of buying sennheiser HD800s

Trust me I sold all of my 200-400£ amps because of my E12. Fiio get overlooked because of their low price but they really made a statement with the E12. It also made the HD800 sound good. It pairs so nice with the 650 giving vocals that intimate lovely feeling.

Other amps to look into are the Vail which is a nice sounding amp but I still prefer the E12.

HOLD YOUR HORSES! do this proplery and buy a bottlehead crack.
I had a schiit vali amp with the hd650s and hd600s and the crack is in a different league than the vail amp.. it can't power the hd650s to its fullest and the sound is generic nothing special. Its well over rated that amp ..not bad tho for the money but the crack is just much better.
The bottlehead crack e80cc driver tube and 5998 power tube... you will have to spend ££ to get better sound.
I would get diff headphones than not going with the crack :)

A close friend of mine is rich enough to get a HD800 and so I have listened to it myself.

Basically, you need a very decent system to feed this beauty.

If you already have a extremely analytic system, you can grab the HD800 and unleash the true power out of your system.

But if the other component of your system are not decent, as HD800 is a truely analytic headphone, it will show all the horrible bits and pieces from your system.

deFiniLoGy , has hit the nail on the head abit in regards some music .... the higher up quality you go with headphone , the worse your music will sound , if they are of low quality.

what ever amp i get it will need to be feed via my pc. as i dont have a top of the range music system.
it will be the best i can get to feed the hd800s via my pc

i7 4770k
gigabyte z87
16gb ddr3
2x7950s
Creative ZXR sound card

----------------------------------------------

have a gameing/movie headset astro a50s
and use my hd650s for everything else / movies / utube ect.

the quality from the zxr is trully awesome but if you guys are saying that its not powering my 650s properly and require a amp then im looking into getting a amp that will fully power the 650s and in the future be able to fully power the hd800s or lcd2`s when i get them in a few weeks ect.

the amp though i can get right away just need to make the correct decision
here is one thing i have noticed with my hd650s though

i get crackling when i crank the volume way up
its more of a crackling when there is rumbles in movies or deep bass i got a pair brand new and this happened and sent them back to senhieser and they sent me a brand new pair and they did the same so i figured the issue was my pc but it could be cause there not being powered correctly. can that cause crackling with deep bass / rumbling bass ?

Do you use the "Bass" and "crossover freq" settings thing in creative software "SBX pro studio" ticked ?
untick if you have ..... it does the same to me and its rubbish feature don't use it, I've tried a few headphones and farts bass with all of them.

Or maybe my sound cards faulty :P

its very strange indeed.... only seems to have the rumble/deep bass issue crackling out of one ear....

dont understand it myself.... im sure the headset is not faulty... or it could be lol

thanks guys for the info`s will do some more research and then decide what one to get.
though i do have i wouldnt consider them high end but i have naim audio seperates in the other rooms cubert not getting used at all wich is a shame...
speakers that where used with it are some Linn Sara 9 Isobarik Loudspeakers with that system thats years and years old though the quality of sound is amazing hahah...
only thing is its amp does not have any headphones out but only the cdplayer does though i dont think it uses the amp for it so i could probably use that if it did but i dont think it does. hahah.... back 20+ years ago this system cost a fortune... ahhh how time does fly :( lol
