John Lewis to launch own TV range

They'll sell on the sound, especially with the JL salesman killer blow of "watch the TV while I crank up the volume so that no-one else on this floor can have a conversation". Most, if not all, modern TV's sound crap. This might not sound amazing, but it will blow them out the water, so will sell.

I did find that particularly odd when I went into JL. I was in there looking at the GT50 (£1400+) when it had launched but we opted to go for the D8000 (£769) and I got a GT50 under a year later from them (£799).

Whilst I was in there looking at TV's all of a sudden there was a sudden burst of sound and I thought to myself what ******* has just done that in the middle of a store and turned around shocked? It was of course the salesman and he was doing it to show off some crappy all in one 5.1 blu ray system. It had been just turned up to full volume to show off how good it was.

He then came over to talk to me after finishing with his personal concert about it because he thought I was interested by the look of horror on my face and the fact i had turned around lol.

Again I don't see how this will sell when it's sooooo overpriced I mean own brand products (regardless of the fact it has a soundbar) should be cheaper than well known quality brand names. I don't think affluent people think any differently on this matter.

Also I know a lot of affluent people (who know nothing about quality) who just buy their tv's from currys because they are local to them. They have money to throw away and just don't know/care that they can get better for their money elsewhere, ignorance is bliss for a lot of wealthy people but if they are that rich then they usually know what surround sound is, and they usually prefer to wall mount tv's because it looks better in their fancy homes. If they have half a brain then they will realise it's not wall mountable and that it's not surround sound.

So I just don't see the appeal in these tbh even for the middle class uninformed.

If it's not wall mountable why do they offer the option for wall mount installation?

either they have that automatically added to every TV they sell most likely just like the other options like old tv disposal, etc to upsell add-ons

or it can be mounted to an articulated arm.

because if you look at the photos

the camera is a lot deeper than the rest of the TV as is the stand (which the soundbar is attached to).

another possibility is that the camera and stand can be removed for wall mounting and that the soundbar can be removed from the stand (it looks like it can be) so that the soundbar can also then be wall mounted completely separately.

again this would make you think, why not just buy a seperate sound bar in the first place? especially given the price of this which would need to be taken apart anyway.

It's not aimed at you :p

I imagine you aren't the target market for Apple laptops either, but they don't seem to have trouble selling.
