I was very sceptical about the American Office and just thought it would be complete poop. But actually, it's absolute comic genius!
Loved it!
The Office is very funny. What concerns me is that I don't think he is really acting much at all.
He was a short sketch bit in the 11oclock show. Where I first saw him, he was hilarious. Can't link to the YT vids as they're all swearing.

It was hilarious but also 'How has he got away with that?'
I think Derek is a work of genius.
Think the new series of Derek is poorly written resorting to more and more vulger comedy to get a laugh from the audience. The character of Kevin is the worst I've ever seen on tv and so they go and double him up with a brother. Much prefered the pilot episodes where Derek appeared a lot more naive and simple than now.

As I'm one of many individuals that have routinely listened to every single radio show and podcast more than 10 times over, it's hard for me to understand how people don't find him funny in the slightest. I'd love to read an actual explanation behind it rather than a blanket statement.
I mean take the example of him hosting the Golden Globes, standing in front of all these A-list celebrities and telling them how it's amazing to see some of the great work performed... by cosmetic surgeons. Or telling them how thankful he is to be in a room full of the most important people on the planet, actors, who needs doctors or firemen. No, not funny in the slightest? Granted it's not like every word that leaves his mouth is an uncut diamond.
I've spoke to a few girls that found him to be mean and heartless and I can definitely see how they get that impression but you can't take his comedy at face value.
