Motorola Moto G - new budget smartphone champion?

How frustrating. It seems no one has still quite hit the nail for me. I held the HTC ONE M8 yesterday and I wasn't fond of the pop-up nav buttons at the bottom (I like them on my ONE X where they are built into the phone at the bottom). The Z1 was a good shout with the battery, but it is so big! :\

If you don't need more than 16GB storage look at the Moto X for £280.

A decent camera and just great in all areas. Superb design.

Idol S has a cack screen and cruddy software.

Depends on what you value most I guess.

Hmm, as my contract is ending, very tempted to cancel and go for PAYG on the cheaper Android hand set then! So, which PAYG tarrif to go for then!

oh right, i did scroll up but not enough it seems.

I think I'll wait for the next budget king tbh, it's for the wife anyway I have a Nexus 5 and hers was stolen (uninsured) and replaced with Moto G.

Get her a better phone when something substantially better comes along under £150. She no longer wants a high end phone after her Nexus 5 was taken.

And to be fair the 8GB+SD shoild be compared to the old 16GB price point, as you only went for that if you wanted more storage.

Your effectively getting the LTE thrown in for free.

If you put it into that perspective, then I guess it does sound like a good bargain. Any idea what the biggest sized SD card it can hold? 32gb ones are pretty cheap these days.

It officially says 32GB Max - but I'd be surprised if it couldn't take a 128GB card.

May be limited by the controller only being a certain bit rate or something.

32Gb should be more than enough for most people anyway I imagine.
