Maybe if the guy who tweeted it didn't knocked up a fake UKIP leaflet and told some flat out lies then he would be fine. It could be seen as trying to influence voting intentions by deception and that's why he got a visit. Some people are truly getting desperate!

He's fine anyway, the police confirmed that no offence had been committed and that no action would be taken. The question is more relevantly whether the complaint should have been taken even that far?

It would be like me creating a fake Labour poster saying "We were responsible for making the 2008 worse for the UK and selling our gold at rock bottom prices, we're unelectable idiots!"

Maybe you should try it and see if you get a complaint made and visit from the police. Would it reveal anything even if you did?

There was even a Labour Broadcast recently depicting the other two leaders, which although I'm no fan of it left a bad taste in the mouth. There are some lines you just don't cross and negative campaigning should be limited. Get votes on your own merits

It would be nice if negative campaigning was limited but it's difficult to see how it could be enforceable especially when sometimes it is the most powerful method of comparison.

Personally I'm getting a little fed up of all the local council election bumpf that keeps being sent on - it's mostly regurgitating the same information but they appear to believe that if it's sent in large enough quantities I'll have to vote for them. I can't help wondering what it's all costing as well when so many of the claims relate to not wasting resources.

Everyone who votes for UKIP's silly... only want one thing and that's tighter control on imigrants and not thinking about the bigger picture.
Pretty much ^

All we need is some stricter immigrant rules, proof you are working within 'x' time period or you are brining 'x' skill set.

Apparently by taking the above quiz:

Labour: 71%
Lib dem: 66%
Scottish Nationals: 56%
Cons: 53%
Green: 53%
BNP: 21%
UKIP: 18%

I had a lot of answers where I didn't give a valid answer though.

Out of all the parties, UKIP is the worst. If anyone thinks a one-policy party is suitable to run a country then they really need to pull their heads out of their behinds.

"So Mr Garage, what does UKIP stand for?"
"Get out of Europe"
"Ok, and then what?"
"Errr.... Derp?"

No, they have other, less well thought out policies such as a ban on further onshore windfarms. Presumably to appeal to the tweed-wearing oldboy end of the tory spectrum who they claim to have not won over yet.

Because it is mostly a con for rich land owners to grab even more money. We should build a few more nuclear power stations and try to be more independent for our fuel

We should be pursuing a "Manhattan Project" for commercial fusion! (A far more worthwhile use for £50Bn than building a railway between London and Birmingham! )

The fact that we are not doing so (Either at a National or International level-And NO ITER does NOT count!) speaks volumes about what TPTB really think about ACC, Peak Oil/Coal and whatever!

Just a question, have you done any research comparing the comparative costs of renewable energy per MWH vs building new nuclear stations?.

If you take into account expected increases in efficiency ratings there has already been huge leaps & bounds of improvements. I completely agree we should aspire to energy independence (to as much of a degree as possible) - but this would be best achieved by using a combination of various sources, with renewal being an ever increasing aspect as it matures.

It's a relatively easy way of privately financing renewable energy generation. I don't see the problem? Micro-generation is the future.

In my view both nuclear and wind have their place in our energy generation spectrum.

Well, that's not technically true. Scaling production of energy massively means massive improvements in efficiency. Furthermore, there are many ways in which we could harness excess energy produced, such as district heating whereby the hot air/water generated by energy production is then used to heat water which is pumped to people's home = free hot water!

Yes, although I never claimed it was more efficient. I see the advantage in the form of reduced dependencies on big energy companies. Just like how the internet as enabled consumers (or now, pro-sumers) to cheaply provide their own entertainment/media content. I see micro-generation being an equivalent trend in the energy market, on a private or community-wide scale.

Absolutely baffled anyone would still vote for the Tories, they ****ed us once and they've ****ed us again.

I'd vote Green if I wanted to vote for the best party, they strike me as the least corrupt, probably still corrupt but maybe for better reasons.

Unfortunately I'm not deluded enough to think they'd win, I vote Labour.
Not because I think they're good I think they're corrupt scum who want to be shot.

But because the Tories are worse, Tories are the enemy. And the Liberal Democrats by working with the enemy are totally ****ing dead to me. I therefore vote for the least grueling option and choke it down every day for the next 5 years while they systematically **** this country up a bit more for personal gain.

Wouldn't touch UKIP or BNP with a barge pole, bunch of racist *******s.

Please tell me how ITER doesn't count? It is the concept for the commercial design built out of the research done at JET in Oxford. They will be getting straight to work building the first commercial reactor afterwards.

I think it was handled badly but I see no reason for a gross misconduct charge.

Maybe a disciplinary or additional training? I would say it warrants internal affairs having a look over.

They basically used time they could have spent investigating something important to instead investigate something that they knew was not a police matter then they went round to the man's house and requested him to do things they had no legal basis to request, and in regards to things they didn't even understand.

They are either bent, lazy, or stupid. All of which warrant some kind of action.

Shouldn't be. Silly Silly people!

Or a bunch of people who are sick of the current mainstream and see no option but to protest or vote for someone else.

This poll is a bit confusing, is it for the European or the local council elections? I have both in my ward...

It's European Parliament elections.

Deep geothermal is the only renewable that is reliable enough to make a substantial impact on our energy portfolio. Wind, solar and tidal are not going to get us anywhere.

We should build nuclear, extract shale and make serious investments in geothermal energy production.
