Down to 1gb free on my SSD, and would like to start all over again, as In as if this was a new PC. All music photo's etc. I can back up to external HDD and games i can redownload from Steam/Origin/uPlay

Is best way to do a fresh install of Windows 8? And would it be a good idea to wipe both SSD and HDD?

I don't have the Windows 8 disc however could I buy one of these recover/repair discs from ebay and having the serial code, use that to reinstall?

Never done an install of windows before so any advice helps :)

You could just download an iso for Windows 8 provided you can get the appropriate image for your product key.

Try taking a look with windirstat first to see what's eating all your space first though just in case it's possible to free up a lot of space without too much effort.

I can't see why you'd need to wipe the HDD, you should only need to wipe the SSD if you're going down the route of a re-install although any programs you have previously installed to the HDD may not work (Steam games will be fine though).

What would I do with the ISO files? Download and transfer to USB stick and boot from there? Or could i download to HDD, then run and install onto SSD from HDD?

So,
download Win 8 ISO files found in post #3 kindly from KIA.
Transfer these onto a USb memory stick
Remove side panel unplug HDD and SSD
insert USB mem stick and boot up, go into BIOS settings
Choose boot from USB
Then it'll automatically go and install windows 8? Will it Automatically overwrite last version? (Will this also get rid of the rest of the stuff taking up space on SSD?)
When do i reconnect SSD for it to install to it?

And then after it's installed to SSD, switch off, reconnect HDD, go back into bios settings choose to boot from SSD?

No, don't bother unplugging your SSD. Unplug any data drives that you have for the sake of making sure windows doesn't install any boot info on them.

Leave your primary drive (the SSD that has Windows installed on) plugged in with data and power.

Go to BIOS, enable boot from USB. Plug in USB stick, boot from USB stick, follow instructions and tell it to install to the SSD when required.

Once Windows boots, restart and plug your data drives back in. Job done.

How big is your SSD?

Even with a 30GB one, I keep plenty of space free on mine. This is with a system set pagefile.

Disable hibernation
Disable system restore

Do you have an nvidia card? There are loads of folder filled with crud you can clean up with old nvidia drivers in them.

Use Treesize to see where your space is being eaten.

Use CCleaner slim to clear out junk temp files.

Well Bledd, i downloaded Treesize, and managed to clear 50Gb. My iTunes library was on SSD, pictures were on SSD, 6gb of Football manager graphics, another 8Gb of Mobile back up (i think my iPhone back up) so no need to do a fresh install :)
