Hi Guys

Been having a think recently about some activities we can offer in our shop at OcUK HQ and what I would like to do is offer a Watercooling workshop every few months. Sort of like a mini forum meet but with an aim to provide our customers not just with the hardware range to buy but also practical instruction and advice on how to install it.

Ideally, this is to attract newcomers but everyone would be welcome.

The premise would be that we make a forum thread every few months, with a Saturday date so that more people are available, I would try to arrange it around a month in advance.

Users sign up via an official forum thread in the latest news and deals section for an AM or PM slot with a view to 10-15 people attending each session.

The session would be ran in a format designed to get everyone up to the same knowledge level and then progress from there.

- A simple introduction to watercooling.
- examples of watercooling designs and how to design a basic loop
- what sort of hardware to buy and how to decide what you need
- installation demonstration
- filling techniques
- draining a loop and general maintenance.
- Q&A session at the end.

This would last around 2 hours and be something I would be offering in my own time, free of charge.

We could also offer a more advanced session for things like graphics card cooling or advanced cooling solutions if there was a demand for it.

Really, I am looking for feedback from you guys to see if it is something that people would want us to offer. If it sees a lot of popularity, then we can of course increase the frequency of how often it happens.

comments and suggestions are more than welcome :)

Rich

Just an idea here but why not live stream it as well as having people there at the workshop? Then everyone can be there for the session.

someone mentioned twitch streaming in one of the copies of this thread.

certainly something I will be suggesting.

I will also be looking at special offers for certain key components from our focus brands also to give the attendees some incentive.

The special offer alone would attract me to the store lol depending if i need the component. Definitely a good attraction point.

Twitch streaming sounds good, it will enable everyone who is interested to learn something without having to be there.. With all the fuel prices etc these days, it'll save people a lot of money.

You could maybe even run a competition on that day too to win watercooling stuff?

I think this is a great idea and I'm definitely interested.

Unfortunately, like the others I am too far away to make it up to the shop (SE England here).

Could we look into some sort of live streaming and/or download link for the guys like myself who can't travel to OcUK HQ?

I've been watercooling for years but there are some areas I feel I could really do with some advice on (namely filling, draining and reservoirs).

Very kind of you to offer this free of charge and out of your own time - big respect!

its an good idea if they live on the door step but like many have said is the distance for most people, for me it would be almost 170 miles round trip.
its a shame has i am soon going to take the plunge into the real water cooling.
in which i am going to need some help in picking the right stuff

Maybe there are some watercooling pro's ready to share their wealth of knowledge down south!

If there was, ill be there with my pen and paper to take notes and my cash to buy rads!

I would be very interested - I am about to embark on my first water cooled build and any help / guidance like this would be a huge benefit for me - a workshop where I could see actual demonstrations and learn the technical aspects to fit my artistic vision *ahem* would be great. Plus the chance to kit up whilst there, how could this not be a good thing? :D

Count me in!!!

p.s. I am in Surrey and happy to drive

This sounds fantastic! I would 100% be up for this. I've always wanted to get a better look in person at how to assemble and be more knowledgeable about WC.

Count me in!

Yes, would be interested, Saturday is my day off from cares of the world, work, wife goes to her mothers etc. Ideal for a learning project.

I have rebuilt my watercooling successfully a few times, but still consider myself a skilled beginner on this topic.

You would get SOOO many views if you streamed these!

Also if you then had an ocuk channel where they were uploaded it would be HUGELY popular.

Great for Ocuk and great for newcomers all around :).

+1 here for remote viewing option (Northern Ireland) so bit too far to drive.

I'm saving up for the move to wc now (2-3 months away) so timing is great.

Could get dif wc vendors to sponsor each event? Get some discount for attendee's spontaneous buying and some recompense for yourself to so generously give up your spare time?

That is a brilliant idea don't know why I didn't think if it! We use Citrix Gotomeeting at work for webinars and meetings. Think they even have a product called Gotowebinar.
