Of course it will GET there Fuzz, but not yet, we still need to use fossil fuels as it stands today.
If there was a money tree we could go full renewable very quickly, but there isn't one.
You may think we are all doomed and feel an urgency to save future generations, but that is a self inflicted problem that you have, not everybody shares your opinion about impending doom.
But unfortunately many politicians do.
Panicking about saving the world will lead us to make bad decisions that will do more harm than good.
Just worry about now, if we lose power it will be a very painful experience for us to live through, so we must avoid it.
No, They dont!
If they did, they would be pursuing the Nuclear option (And fusion development) with considerably more vigour than they currently are.
Current "Green" strategy is more about maintaining "Business as usual" but in a manner that allows far more revenue to be extracted (Both by governments and corporate entities) from fossil fuel exploitation (And indeed, to maintain the gravy trains momentum by manipulating a rise in prices to make it worthwhile to develop fossil fuel reserves that might not otherwise have been considered viable!)
ACC is irrelevent on the great scheme of things, On a list of the top ten issues we should be concerned about I am not sure it is even on the list.
By contrast, The one that gets me is this.
I suspect that in 100 million years time (assuming there are palaeontologists around to examine it) the fossil record corresponding to the 20/21 century will show the sudden deforestation of the entire planet (And the consequent extinction of the majority of plant species) and, in the blink of a geological eye, the extinction of almost all animal species with a body weight greater than 20Kg, (with the exception of around a dozen plant/animal species whose population exploded!)
This represents a breadth, depth and rate of mass extinction that dwarves even the Permian-Triassic extinction (AKA the "the Great Dying")
If all this seems a bit pessimistic, it is worth noting that this has pretty well already happened over much of the developed world.
Unless something pretty dramatic happens over the next couple of decades the process will be largely complete, globally, within the lifetime of people alive today!
"Climate Change" is an utterly insignificant issue by comparison!
