Of course it will GET there Fuzz, but not yet, we still need to use fossil fuels as it stands today.
If there was a money tree we could go full renewable very quickly, but there isn't one.
You may think we are all doomed and feel an urgency to save future generations, but that is a self inflicted problem that you have, not everybody shares your opinion about impending doom.
But unfortunately many politicians do.

Panicking about saving the world will lead us to make bad decisions that will do more harm than good.
Just worry about now, if we lose power it will be a very painful experience for us to live through, so we must avoid it.

No, They dont!

If they did, they would be pursuing the Nuclear option (And fusion development) with considerably more vigour than they currently are.

Current "Green" strategy is more about maintaining "Business as usual" but in a manner that allows far more revenue to be extracted (Both by governments and corporate entities) from fossil fuel exploitation (And indeed, to maintain the gravy trains momentum by manipulating a rise in prices to make it worthwhile to develop fossil fuel reserves that might not otherwise have been considered viable!)

ACC is irrelevent on the great scheme of things, On a list of the top ten issues we should be concerned about I am not sure it is even on the list.

By contrast, The one that gets me is this.

I suspect that in 100 million years time (assuming there are palaeontologists around to examine it) the fossil record corresponding to the 20/21 century will show the sudden deforestation of the entire planet (And the consequent extinction of the majority of plant species) and, in the blink of a geological eye, the extinction of almost all animal species with a body weight greater than 20Kg, (with the exception of around a dozen plant/animal species whose population exploded!)

This represents a breadth, depth and rate of mass extinction that dwarves even the Permian-Triassic extinction (AKA the "the Great Dying")

If all this seems a bit pessimistic, it is worth noting that this has pretty well already happened over much of the developed world.

Unless something pretty dramatic happens over the next couple of decades the process will be largely complete, globally, within the lifetime of people alive today!

"Climate Change" is an utterly insignificant issue by comparison!

Well, party insider Sanya-Jeet Thandi certainly believes that UKIP is racist. Then there's all of the councillors that UKIP have had to drop because they've made racist comments in public.

UKIP might not be a racist party but it's certainly a party full of racists.

She went from singing their praises to ranting in two weeks.

She was either a plant or had been bought off. Why the sudden epiphany? Will be interesting where she end up.
What about the other ethnic members the Jamaican guy who ran for leadership or the black Jewish woman who spoke out last week in ukips defence after they racist?

Not that being openly xenophobic is that much better. :D

I said that before and i'll say it again - what people have to remember is that they are not voting for Nigel. They are voting for a party. And if tomorrow somewhere in Brussels Nigel slips on a Belgian bathroom rug and splits his head open against Italian armature (or any other treacherous European furniture) - you have to consider - who is going to take his place. Who's Nigel's right hand. If he (God forbid) becomes Prime Minister then what kind of people are second in command. Who is his deputy? Who is in charge of treasury. Who are his ministers.

Nobody. It's a party of one man. Party of one demagogue.

Research current members then. If they look like they will get more support next year not this election you will see more people join them from other parties.

The logic of UKIP haters is funny.

A few racists who slipped through the net and were then kicked out = Proof the whole of UKIP racist.

Quite a few members that are minorities/of various ethnicity and are UKIP members = doesn't prove a thing, a few black people doesn't make them not racist.

;)

I give you Dianne Abbott openly racist labour minister why has she not lost her job?

So far it's in reverse. After last election, despite rising in popularity they lost 45% of their MEPs before half term. The best people they selected to be candidates. No other party had doors revolving that fast.

We might be on opposite sides of electoral fence, but I bet I have better picture of their current top members than you. As far as EU elections go, they only have one man in their midst that does the job people selected him for. Only one member who attends to over 90% of his parliamentary duties. You probably can't even name him without googling it up.

Not a single party in EU parliament has record as bad as UKIP. Voting them in again as MEPs is a mistake. Even if you like Nigel. They are 5th column. They will create diversion and damage British economy just to prove their political point. We are talking about a man who climbed into EU parliament to claim £2,000,000 from taxpayers pockets in expenses and for the first two years his only duty was to protect British interests in European Parliament Committee on Fisheries but he chose to turn up to only one meeting in three years and asked his people to vote to scrap protected fishing zone for British vessels and to allow Spanish fishing fleet take over UK fishing waters. Just to stir the unrest. You'll find this nuggets about UKIP everywhere you look.

For one.

I've also read a study in which it displays social attitudes based on voting reference.

On average, with questions related to homophobia, sexism or racism the average score was as follows.

Highest - BNP - UKIP - Conservative - Labour - Lib Dems - Greens - Lowest.

(A huge gap between the average Conservative & UKIP voter with most of them expect the Green party being within a reasonable band).

On questions like "Are second generation non-white people born in the UK less British than second generation white people?" (both immigrants) & that kind of thing.

I'll try to find a study, but UKIP without a shadow of a doubt does indeed attract the mildly racist voters too ashamed to vote for the BNP (due to the thuggery/outright stupidity aspect of them).

You've got to have a bob or two to live most large towns and cities down south .

Not really, the vast majority of my friends work ****** factory jobs and on the highstreet, most of them have bought houses.

I've been to cambridge man, even the so called "rough areas" are ritzy.

By watching the news it looks like most of Europe doesn't want to be apart of the EU.
I hope I see the EU fall apart in my life time.

You want to see recessions, destitution, wide spread poverty, mass unemployment, major panic riots and whatever else the collapse of the EU would bring?

Why?

Whether I'm stereotyping or not is irrelevant, and I am - Cambridge? Please, you've gotta have a bob or two to live there.

My point was the government is pumping loads of money into Cambridge, that is an indisputable fact, the vast majority of the UK is not so lucky.

So what? We've got a bob or two and Cambridge is well funded. I completely agree we live in a somewhat privileged - and largely because of the university actually - bubble.

I do not however agree that the rest of the UK is going down the ****ter. Just because I live here doesn't mean I'm ignorant. You seem to have a huge chip on your shoulder.

An over night collapse would bring that, but thats not going to happen.

A controlled breakdown would be quite fine.

I'm not convinced it would. Already large unemployment would rocket given the notion that the single currency was being broken down. They've just about managed to get it under control, imagine how many countries would go bankrupt with the news that the Euro was being canned?

Have you not been outside for a while?
Oh dear.

Underemployment becoming a big issue, the vast majority of people have seen a reduction in wages in real terms for several years running, poverty rising, footbanks rising, suicide rates increasing, small businesses and budding entrepreneurs being crushed by large tax avoiding international conglomerates, elderly people freezing because they can't pay their heating bill.

All the while the rich are getting richer, and the Tory scum are helping them do it.

How is it not going to ****?

When your government is causing people such misery that they're killing themselves you can't even for a second say that "Things are hunky dory" things were never perfect but they're becoming worse by the day.

Suicides? Please elaborate

Bear with a me a second, but is there not the possibility that MORE jobs could be created as a result of the Euro going?

I mean take SEPA for example. It's all streamlined now, which further reduces the need for some jobs.

Having the need to process more transactions and currency differences might actually create jobs?

Also, I think it's important for countries to have a bit of individuality. :)

I doubt she had a sudden epiphany. Her views changed over time but she couldn't express those views until she quit.

Haven't you ever had a job that you hated? Did you go around telling everyone at work that you hated it or did you wait until you'd quit before telling everyone?
