DPD: Sunday deliveries!

Owner drivers tend to work insane hours per week already, they must be allowed a day off.

Self employed, no rights.

They will be expected to cover what ever deliveries come into their contracted postcodes or will be charged spot hire for a man and a van to do it in their place.

And that will be ANY vehicle and driver they can hire.

I've worked at places where they have only been able to hire 18 tonners to deliver a handful of parcels and charged the owner driver £200 day rate to deliver parcels they would have paid him a tenner to deliver.

I think DPD are the leaders for couriers at the moment! I would much rather have a evening delivery service though than a sunday

It might have to do with amazons delivery company, if they dont keep up they'll lose out to Amazon, as amazon have purchased their own delivery service to deliver goods the same day as purchased.

I love DPD since they started sending you an email/text to say your parcel is being delivered today but then gives you several options for your delivery. I love the option to pick it up from the depot as I can't have stuff delivered to work so usually miss the delivery. And the DPD depot is right outside work as is most of the couriers so having this option is perfect, just wish Yodel etc did the same!!

My last order didn't, but my current order has had a lot of helpful follow up info, currently on a van with Daniel who is 2hours 30 mins away and an hour time slot of when he'll be arriving :) Options to change delivery etc included in the email, and a text message with the info on too. Amazing service to be honest! Hats off to dpd and ocuk :)

After now more than one 'we couldn't be bothered to do you a Saturdayddelivery even though you paid' occasion I just don't bother with it

Given the choice I now use UPS access point as I have one on my way to work thatis open till 11pm

one niggle so far:
Parcel Status:Your parcel has been delivered and signed for by WOODWARD at 12:15 on Fri 30 May 2014

No it hasn't, cus im not there! (it has arrived though :) )

1) Oh, wonderful...another day when they will turn up with my item and the box is all bashed up in one corner exposing its contents.

2) Oh, wonderful...another day when the courier can only be ****ed to work until 16:00 and returns to the depot with my stuff, after not getting anywhere close to my address and logging the delivery as "card left" regardless...what difference does it make what day they "deliver" when I have to go get my item from their depot because they never bothered to deliver it?

Take your pick.
