Kidney Stones

Sorry mate I'd love to Help I really would but I have a recent infraction so would be instantly Sussed if I broke the rules so soon after.
No Medical threads/Advice etc :(

I can't even post a link as it would be seen as giving Medical advice, Sorry All.

What I can say is if you search around you should find it easily via Google. It is only 2 things mixed that are readily available. Not only does it relieve the pain but it makes passing them much much easier.
I should know I suffered in Agony 3 days out of every 10 from a Feb to Sept, found this mix used it & passed them 3 days later.
The worst of it was that I had my Specialists appointment about 5 days later or summit, ******* Typical. + :p

Is this the age old 2:1 lemon juice / olive oil my granny told my dad about in 1980?

It didnt really work for my old man either, he ended up in hospital whilst they extracted them

Someone I know suffers from kidney stones and the doctor told him to drink normal coca cola, something to do with the acid in it dissolving them.

In the past I think cranberry tables / drinks are supposed to help.

One question, how do you know if you've got a Kidney stone or a bladder stone ? as bother are going to come out the same way.

They're the same thing from the same minerals.

I think you may be getting confused with Gallstones from the Gallbladder, not the urinary tract bladder.

Gallbladder feeds ultimately into the small intestine, and you get stones from high cholesterol things.

Kidneys feed into the bladder, and you get stones from fructose, sugars, most meats (typically red), salt and dehydration (lack of drinking normal plain ol' water).

So each stone is passed by a different waste method, number 1 or a number 2!

On August the 20th I got hit by them TLDR - Hospital > Morphine > Ureteric Stent Fitted.

Supposed to have it out and them blasted on the 3rd November but due to s suspected Ebola outbreak in the hospital (which was negative) they shut surgeries on that day now rescheduled for the 15th of December.

The issue I have is that the stent is causing pain and I'm passing a fair bit of blood :( so much that when it hits (maybe once or twice every two weeks) I have to take time of work as even walking is painful. I have looked in to it and as far as I can tell its the end of the stent rubbing that is causing it and yes i have drunk an ocean of water ha ha.

I have seen the GP about it and he gave me some tablets that help people with IBS these seemed to work but I'm gathering all they are doing is masking it as the above seems to be worse when it hits.

Anyone got any tips on how to reduce it as It's doing my ******* head in and I don't get paid for sick :(

Ergh never really knew about kidney stones but very keen now to prevent them after skimming this thread! 80% occur in men unfortunately so the odds are not on my side. According to wikipedia:

Dehydration from low fluid intake is a major factor in stone formation.[2][6]

High dietary intake of animal protein,[2] sodium, refined sugars, fructose, and high fructose corn syrup,[7] oxalate,[8] grapefruit juice, and apple juice increase the risk of kidney stone formation.[6]

Already drink lots of water throughout the day and am vegetarian so that's good. Probably eat too much sugar though :(

Someone I know suffers from kidney stones and the doctor told him to drink normal coca cola, something to do with the acid in it dissolving them.

They recommend avoiding cola these days apparently.

If your username is anything to go by, give it a rest for a bit and the blood might stop.

Seriously though, we can't give advice here.

Yeah I knew that I can't get medical advice but was hoping for a "oh I had that I drank green tea it helped" sort of thing.

I know that resting up clears it up so I guess that's the best solution.

I think I've had kidney stones when I was younger. I never went to A&E or had it diagnosed but I remember being literally floored when walking home from school when I was 17. Luckily I was close to my house but I had to crawl the rest of the way. It totally took over, never felt anything like it before.

For the next few months, every so often I would have a really sharp pain peeing, like I was passing a razor blade. I used to play tennis at the time and I remember on many occasions being on court or sitting on the bench, I'd be fine one moment, and then suddenly I'd have needles in what felt like my bladder and I'd quickly run to the toilet with tears rolling down my eyes.

Only just seens this thread,

Had 3 in one go in 2005, blinding pain - never experienced anything like that before or since thank god.

Had some kidney drama this year went for all the scans etc was told by the Doctor that I have 3 in my right kidney and 6 in the left kidney, that explains all the aching then.

I remember passing 2 in 2005 and the other must have gone too, but know they are back with avengence. The Doctor mearly said "come back and see us in 6 months" - I was like hold on chum, I have a rather large number inside me and that is all you have for me...his reply.

"We are a hospital, if it hurts come back asap, if it doesn't come back in 6 months."

Miffed is not the word I would have used for my response to his suggestion.

Luckily none are blocking anything or moving, although sometimes my groin aches like hell, but as yet nothing passed. I remember the pain well so hope I would notice.

That's ridiculous, I had 1x 5mm stone and they kept me in for a few days. I purchased some Chanca Piedra drops (apparently translates to stone breaker) from the rainforest. My stone came out in 1 piece about a fortnight later and another small piece after another month. Might be be worth a go for you. I plan to do a round (6 weeks ish) of Chanca Piedra every year to hopefully flush out the system and clean out any blockages.

5mm doesn't seem like it'd be an issue.

Yeah it wasn't too bad, I didn't get the levels of pain other people in this thread have described. My pain started to the right of my belly button and then just moved downwards, it was a huge discomfort at times that went on for months but never excruciating.

I went to 3 G.P's and each of the idiots said it was IBS, even when I was p*ssing blood the diagnosis didn't change

I had them 3 months or so back. Blinding pain that came on very suddenly in the night and had me rolling around on the bathroom floor at work. Luckily there was a paramedic on station and he got me to hospital pdq but he thought I had appendicitis. The gas and air did sweet FA for the pain and had to wait an hour or so at the hospital for the morphine fairy to pay out.

With the xrays I apparently had 3 in there but passed 2 of them and the 3rd is still up there waiting. Not in a dodgy position atm but its still there lurking. Since that day though i've been drinking copious amounts of fluid as there's no way I ever want that pain again...you all know...
