Been offered a Q7 by a friend. It's straight and has been serviced by Audi until missing the last one 7k miles ago. SWMBO likes everything else about it.

It's cheap, probably 3k under comparable sales on Autotrader.

Discuss...pros and cons.

Thanks.

Is it a 2012 thats £35k instead of £38k? Don't bother.

Is it a 2006 thats £7k instead of £10k? Different story.

Are you going to run it into the ground?

Though what sort of person totally ignores the service indicator on a car like that? What else did they ignore?

Yeah, should have said.

It's 11.5k that should be maybe £14k give or take. 95k miles on it.

The story is a messy divorce, since the split, she's been driving it probably not caring. He used to sort the cars.

Yeah, 7k isn't "that" much. My mates Merc C class is around 20k overdue. I've been telling him the last year and a half, he just doesn't care. Worst thing is, he bough it brand new. It's just had it's first MOT, but still no service. EVER.

Yep. You do hear amazing stories of neglect. A colleague in work had a 1.9tdi Leon that he drove for 4 years and 80k miles without an oil change (only top ups) with apparently no adverse effects. I would think lifespan was greatly shortened but he just got rid so it didn't matter.

7k passed service interval will make little to no difference to the longevity the car. Get it changed ASAP and use it to knock a bit of money off. Had it done 15k passed the service interval I would leave it.

I bought a 306 1.4 for my wife from her friend, had 96k on it, so I serviced it took out the oil filter and it was disintegrated I asked the girl if she had serviced she said don't they do that's when it had the MOT, it had just be topped up through her ownership.
The engine was fine though just goes to show.

Yes but that's a taxi :p I am guessing your company own the taxis? So it ran most hours of the day for a week.

That's an average of over 40mph even if run non-stop for that week.. working hours would be averaging about 175mph so I'm hoping it ran around the clock! :p

Just a warning about running costs, you may be putting 2 full sets of tyres a year on it. I have a 2013 Q7 from new and am about to put my third set of tyres all round at only 14,500 miles, first set did 9,000 odd miles these have done 4,500 miles from December last year, the only difference i can think of is that i have put the suspension in dynamic were as it used to left on auto.

The cheapest i can get original tyres for is £250 each.

Wow you must drive like a maniac, my missus's brother in law has a 2012 Q7 3.0 TDI S Line Plus, we changed the 295 /35 R21 tyres for him last week. He had done 22k miles on the original tyres which took them to the wear indicator on the fronts and nearly on the back.

Stuck a set of Pirelli Pzeros on for £1k full set, the Pzero is an Audi approved tyre.
