Android Silver Project

Really hope its true, I personally love my Nexus 5 but would pay a lot more if it camera with an awesome screen, better battery life, a better camera, better speakers, better built in sound. None of these are real big issues now but there are parts/device on the market that are much better at all of these. If we could get all of that in a Nexus device I think it would be amazing.

It's about time we had a proper high-end phone direct from Google. I'd pay £500 for it if it ticked all my boxes.

My dream phone would essentially be the HTC One (M8) Google Play Edition, with a decent camera (8MP+ with decent optics and OIS), available in the UK.

If Google can do that, then I'll be very happy.

Of this round of phones I'd be happy with M8 Google but with the current camera extras (Zoe).

It really is about time operators started offering stock out of the box. There is no need for GPE here. Just let us choose. It can't cost you more to offer stock Android as an option.

Nooooooo.
Was waiting for the "usual" Nexus release around November time as that's when my contract is due. I guess no Nexus 6 for me :(

We'll see. evleaks has been wrong before, althoughg hde said on the reddit thread he was confident on this. We may also get a nexus 5 2013 next month unlikely or november more likely instead.

I love the idea of the Silver program... at the same time I'm SO sad it maybe the end of the Nexus line.

The cool thing with the silver program is that silver phones have their updates 100% controlled by Google, even the special Google Experience phones have their updates done by the manufacturer so it will be interesting to see how they handle these phones.

I'm so torn man, wow interesting times.

The Nexus lines (and GPe) are great because they stop the manufacturers and networks fiddling with them.

Android Silver sounds like it will let them back in, which at the very least means network locked handsets, and at worse sounds like no different to any other network customized phones but with quicker updates.

Having a choice of handsets will be good though.

I don't want any crap on my Android phones at all, and I really hope we can still buy phone directly from Google.

The idea of an extremely highend and premium device directly from google sounds great. I love my Nexus 5, but the battery life is okay, camera is okay, speakers are kind meh, headphone are a tad quiet, these areas are not bad, but you can see clear compromises to reach a price. And I'm personally willing to pay the extra to get a better device.

it would be nice to retain a nexus style range then have silver above for people who are willing to ***** a few more notes.

I think we might have to look at Moto for that, the Moto X is pretty close to the price of the Nexus 5, hopefully they have better releases going forward.
