Worth having a dedicated PhysX card with 780ti SLI?

Yeah I just realised that my physx issue in metro last light was a physx bug that defaults physx to the CPU rather than GPU. I just downloaded the latest Physx software and it now works works with the GPU and has gone from 40fps to 60fps (v-sync on).
 
Way too much unnecessary heat for something that very few games use, and id say 780ti in sli will cope fine in games that use physx.

THIS!!! I had the same problem last night!!

It transpired that having installed the game after the Nvidia drivers (As you do) the game downgraded the physx drivers, meaning pants performance when the physx occured!!

Was pulling my hair out a little, as other than that game was running sweet!

I came accross an article on this yesterday. On the whole, I think it was worth it performance wise. But I wouldnt bother. There arent that many physx games to really warrant a dedicated physx card.
 
Well, I haven’t actually tested it yet as it was almost 3am in the morning when I realised that the game must have downgraded the physx drivers.

Initially I was puzzled as in some parts of the game it was as smooth as butter, then in others, it felt like walking through trickle.

I enabled the physx indicators in the control panel and saw that physx was set to render on the CPU.

Deleting the physx drivers and reinstalling the drivers in the install directory that the drivers created, got me back to physx being rendered on the GPU. Haven’t tested it yet, but that’s a good sign to me.
 
Lol this is exactly what happened with me! Some scenes were 60fps then suddenly I'd walk through a door and it would drop to 40fps but would feel more like 20fps!

Btw it worked for me with the latest drivers so it should work for you!

This damn weather means I have to wait untill about 10pm to fire up my PC. Its in a loft conversion, which means it's HOT!

For some reason the games that I have tried with PhysX are also useless at supporting more than 2 way SLI.

Far better to have a 3 way SLI setup for normal use and games and when you do want to play a PhysX equipped game drop to 2 way SLI and use the spare card for PhysX.
