MOTs and exhausts?

No it is a 1.8t FSI 8p2 which no one does an exhaust for. The 8p3 came out the same year and has a completely different layout (known as the TSI). Both the v6 and the 2.0t fsi have the same layout which is also completely different. No one makes one for my car period. There are only 2 custom exhaust shops within about 200 miles of me - one was some wierd backstreet garage I didn't like the look of at all, and the other had rave reviews all over the internet so I went there and got this. I specifically asked them to make sure the tips were aligned properly, after 2 hours in their uncomfy waiting room I got this result, and I had an appointment at the other end of Cornwall I could not miss so I could not ask them to re-do it. I will have the tips re-done somewhere at a later date.

I am going to replace my standard resonator with a 12" long glasspack one which should cure my problem although I was driving it today and it is not that bad... I just had a headache the other day.

Thinking long term today maybe I should just put it back to standard, save up and buy an S3 but I won't be able to find a low mileage one for under £23k and £23k buys you something a lot different to an S3... sigh

I bought my 8P3 68k with most of the toys for 16k over a year ago. I've bought a Miltek cat-back non resonated and I am in two minds if I should remove it or not. The drone when decelerating between 3 and 4k is horrible! Shame as it looks stock and sounds nice from the outside.

Plenty of cheaper S3's about if you look or get lucky...

Well this only has 31k miles.

My drone is between 2k and 1krpm which is annoying as that is where it is at between around 10mph to 60mph!

Here is the backbox delete video. Notice it only sounds like a boat on first startup, this is where the car puts the exhaust gas back into the airbox, after around 1min it quietens down. I didn't want to really rev it as it is outside my house; therefore the conditions and revving is exactly the same as the resonator delete video above.

Apparently for £30 or so I can get some house deadening carpet to put in my wheel well/boot which will significantly remove drone.

So update time again.

Paid £48 the other day and had it all put back to standard.

I kept the pipe and was looking around and schooling myself with how it works.

I found a suitable exhaust called an APR RSC which has a helmholtz chamber which removes drone completely...but costs £1200.

Then I found this and having done some searches I think I am going to put the pipe back on my car and fit this just before it.

Basically is is a straight through design with a valve which you can change infinitly and also select whether you want it muted or open via remote control.

I thought this was a gimmick but apparently it really works - I have only seen videos of it on a S15 which being a 2.0t 4cylinder engine has a tone pretty close to mine.

This will be ideal - fun loudish exhaust when I want it and completely OEM sounding when I want it also!

I cancelled my pre-order on the milltek as apparently, even though they say they don't, they drone.

Another one

Each to their own and all that but, does putting a loud exhaust on an expensive hatchback that originally sold its self a refined solid run about not defeat the point of spending the extra money on something like?

I'm almost certain you could have a hot Seat for the money with a louder exhaust as standard and more importantly is "sporty" looking so louder exhausts would look less out of place?

Also if you are looking for a bit more power and sound you were on the right track with gutting the precat, unless you specifically want a loud car (which going by your above posts you actually don't) then cat back systems are totally pointless despite what tuners or the internet says on a mordern car you will gain nothing other than boomy sound due to the restrictions of the cats.

Well changing my pipe from straight to OEM backbox I lost power and lost 18 mpg average so that is obviously an incorrect statement.

I had a custom exhaust. It was boomy even though they promised it would not be, and does not line up properly with the car. Never going "custom" like that ever again!

Why would I want to go from an Audi to a Seat? Seat are terrible, plasticky, budget models.

Best of going to a reputable business then ;)

Why would you want to put a loud pipe on a non "sport" model? I'm not having a dig I'm just struggling to see what you want to achieve? Are you trying to give the appearance of a faster car with the loud exhaust? Like the sound yourself (evidently not)? Or trying to get a performance increace, if so rip out the precat and get it mapped.

What I was saying about the Seat is you don't seem happy with your luxury car and are perhaps trying to get something that looks, sounds and is faster and the Seat cars are pretty good bang for buck when you consider underneath the plastic they are generally the same as any other equal VAG car.

It is a petrol S-Line, it is a sports model.

I must say I am enjoying wafting around in near silence. I am thinking of sound deadening the whole car to complete the feeling. Including the engine bay to get rid of the FSI whine.

I wanted it to sound ok so I could hear it a bit.

With a thought process like this I can conclude:

Women
