**The big ol' Z97 thread!**

I'm going to be using a 350D with that set up and invision no problems with some over clocking. But I won't be pushing components much.

Got my new system built today using these

Asus Z97I-PLUS m-itx
i5 4670k
Corsair H100 CPU cooler
8GB Kingston Beast 2400MHz RAM
Asus R9 290 4GB reference cooler
Corsair 250D case
Corsair TX650w PSU
120Gb Samsung EVO SSD (O.S. and stuff)
2TB Seagate SSHD (Games, programs etc)
1TB Samsung HD (Films, music and work stuff)
LG Blu-ray drive/dvd writer

It was a bit of a tight squeeze getting it all in and I think I should have got myself a modular PSU to try and get the cables a bit tidier. When I had windows/updates/drivers installed I checked on the Asus website to see if a new BIOS was available for the motherboard. The version installed out of the box is 0319 and on the website versions 0320 and 0324 were available just stating that 0320 was the motherboard release bios(?)
and that 0324 is a new version with better system stability. So, I downloaded the 0324 version and installed that onto a USB stick formatted in FAT. I plugged the stick into the USB 2 which is used for BIOS updates (the i.o. plate states this) and used the bios setting to update. All went well as a message popped up saying "Bios update successful" the PC rebooted and - oh no nothing - fans spun but no display and no green and blue light on the motherboard. I tried the 0320 bios with the same thing - nothing. tried plugging the monitor into the onboard DVI port = still nothing.

After about 2 hours of installing and reinstalling the 3 bios versions I had I took out the 290 graphics card plugged my TV into the hdmi port on the motherboard and - hey presto it booted. I then put the 290 back in connected the DVI cable up and booted and all is well. I really don't know what happened as I had even been through all the settings in the bios to make sure it booted using the PCI-e card AND the Bios was showing fine on through the graphics card but it would not boot into windows.

I am now on the latest Bios 0324.

Well i bought the SOC-Force :)
Had enough of red/black builds, so going to do an orange/white :)

Nice choice T :)

Still undecided really, was all set on a classy (z87 or z97). But today I learned that the xpower comes with a whopping 16 phases for the CPU, twice that of anything else on the market. Shame its xl-atx though...

Sounds sweet, posted ip a pic in another thread a few days ago, m6f with white painted armor and red highlights, looked amazing. Thought you still had a 4770k mate?

Nah, i sold that a while ago to young Neil :)
I hop and change all the time, never happy :p

Currently got a 3770k what i'm sending off to my mate in Germany, and hoping to get X99 for benching when that comes out (also looking to get my chiller back as well, only little baby ones on ebay! :()

Yeah I'll be building in a Bitfenix Phenom. Not the best for airflow, but I'll figure something out I'm sure.

Same as me, I am using a phenom M. I modified the front panel so it allows for better air flow, and have installed two slim fans in the top, two in the bottom, both bringing in air, and the rear as an exhaust.

nice design looks very similar to the aerocool dead silence which costs around the same price but has better airflow & interior layout.

Yeah I did almost buy that case, it was ever so slightly bigger than I required (I needs to fit it in a small square shaped area) and then phenom only just fits with its feet off lol.

I was hoping to mod mine to fit a h100 in somewhere it wouldn't interfere with gpu, but not having much luck so far! I don't know what they were thinking when they decided the mobo should be upside down...

Any update on the MSI xpower ac Scotti? Reading over it, looks like it will out spec everything else on the market!!
