There have been a lot comments and side swipes directed to various members - and it's not acceptable.

This is a warning for everyone: please keep the discussion civil and criticise opinions not individuals personally. Politics inevitably will lead to often polarised and passionate opinions, but personal attacks are not tolerated here.

Failure to head this message will lead to suspensions or the locking of this thread.

Hear Hear, despite being a tiny minority on these forums the ones on the left seem to have taken to systematic verbal abuse against anyone who doesn't agree with them. IMO it shows desperation,

How are you of the radar so to speak. Sound interesting.

Off the Radar is by living on a boat as my main residence - so long as I pay my mooring and license fees then all is good. Spending time with the missus at her place is okay as it's not my house and I have my own residence. The council don't enforce paying council tax on residential boats unless you are claiming benefits - in that case you would have to jump through the hoops to get your fees paid.

Regards

Ed Miliband: Nigel Farage Is 'Not A Racist'

http://news.sky.com/story/1263755/ed-miliband-nigel-farage-is-not-a-racist

can we put it to bed now?

Mr Miliband admitted that the last Labour government failed to take people's concerns seriously enough, adding: "It was our attitude that was wrong, and needed to change."

The latest poll shows UKIP continuing its lead ahead of the European elections on 35%. Labour is second on 24% with the Tories on 20%. The Green Party is on 7% overtaking the Lib Dems on 6%.

Quite popular with the plebs.

I'm trying to understand what peoples movitation is for voting UKIP - Is it really about immigration and the problems that might stem from that? Or maybe its more to do with the other mainstream parties that WON'T make a stand on immigration? Or do they have other policies that you feel strongly about? I'd like to hear some comments - I myself am bewildered of the benefits of open borders but I'm equally bewildered about people voting for a rightwing movement that are fairly controvertial even by political standards.

I foresee another hung parliment with a Tory-UKIP coalition and massive austerity coupled with rioting in the streets.

"I think his remarks he made were deeply offensive … I think they were a racial slur but I don’t think of Nigel Farage as a racist himself." says red Ed.

It's very uncomfortable bed you want to put it into.

I personally think of Nigel as a man trying to desperately control and modernise party of racists and xenophobes, and failing miserably almost on daily basis.

If there is a real UKIP landslide win as I think is a real possibility, I wonder how it will shape the UK's future in Europe?

I can't see Miliband or Clegg budging much on their policies, but the Conservatives seem to have more room for maneuver with so many Euro skeptics in the party.

However the Tories let everyone down with the lack of referendum. Could finally be an interesting time for politics.

I'm finding it really hard listening to all this Farage is racist rubbish, it's the only argument they have left in the hope it will somehow bring him down, but the race card just isn't working anymore, I'd say their desperation is turning to panic as it's becoming clear more and more people are backing UKIP.

Agreed.
We may actually very a proper debate on immigration & EU membership and other parties who actually stick to their promises, rather than empty rhetoric.

If so ukip has achieved its purpose in my mind.

No one is going to vote UKIP in a national election. The main stream parties will offer just enough to appease the xenophobes and anti EU voters long before polls open.

These are deffo exciting times for politics, I wish I was in the UK to get hyped up by it, Swedish politics isn't as fun. We still have a so called racist party, their version of ukip essentially, but they seem a little more watered down.

Of all the countries I've been Sweden and the UK are really similar.

Im not in the country to vote and our polling card arived after the deadline to postal vote had passed lol.

This is your opinion, it isn't fact. You're entitled to your own opinions, you're not entitled to your own facts.

One fact is that UKIP attract many of the racist votes. Why do you think that is? Is it a coincidence?

You pretty much nailed it on the head right there,Well that's why im voting UKIP anyway.

I have no issue with immigrants,BUT they are letting the wrong ones in in far too many quantity..our government should be more like the are in Aus..they let in immigrants but you have to be skilled in something that will benefit the country..not just anyone no skilled can walk in and take pretty much any job you want and get paid less than the average UK worker or just walk in and claim benefits.

Also the fact that mainstream parties don't want to know when you bring up immigration because they are scared of offending anyone..they should grow some balls and stick up for our country.

This.

But they will find other ways. These kind of people always do.

What you're saying here is immigrants are stealing menial jobs, as they require no skills but the problem is menial jobs imply minimum pay which means immigrants can't lawfully get paid less. So how exactly are they stealing these jobs? What advantages do these people have?

There is plenty of debate about it, it's generally just boring/rubbish :p.

I think a lot of people, as yourself, are unhappy with the level of unskilled migration. What I find staggering is that people think UKIP are going to change this.
