What is the law here, for example your boss, on some other person your come into contact with, public person etc..

Can you take a photo of anyone and put it on the internet?

I hate the lack of laws protecting people like me from the Paparazzi.

It's a bit more complicated than that if you use it commercially or if the context is defamatory etc, but essentially that's the case.

Model release forms are not required in the UK. You could take a photo of someone in a public place, blow it up to 100 foot tall and then sell copies of it and not have an issue, although in that case the person in question would probably try and do you for harassment or similar.

Defamation and using photos of someone to imply something (such as a photo of them with a drug warning) is different however.

Like I said, it gets a bit more complicated :p

Story somewhat related: years ago me and a friend were cycling around the lakes of BlueWater shopping centre, I was probably about 12 years old or so. There was a guy taking photos of the lakes (the centre hadn't been open that long) and he asked if he could take a shot of us riding past for some of the shopping centre's promotional stuff. So we said "no problem", rode around where he asked, he took a photo, and off we went.

Ever since I've been wondering whether he was just some weirdo. Then one day about 15 years later, I was walking through BW again with my GF and there on the wall is a big picture of me and my friend riding our bikes around the lakes.

And now, every time I walk past, my GF and friends snigger and laugh at a 10ft high mural of me in my tracksuit bottoms and big nerdy glasses.

should have asked for royalties :/
