I cant decide what one is better this one Raijintek Themis http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-001-RT or Raijintek Aidos http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-002-RT&groupid=701&catid=2330&subcat=2666

I am currently using the stock Intel heat sink and fan but it's getting blooming noisy now when I am using the PC, so I am looking for something that is as quiet as possible, for a limited budget, I don't want to go over £25 for a cooler so if someone can recommend another cooler that is quiet and good at cooling that would be great :D

Thanks.

well the aidos has two extra heatpipes,so in theory should cool better than the themis, that only has 6

I just went with the Themis, after checking on there official site OCUK has the wrong info for noise level on this, it's actually 24.53 dBA not as stated in description on this site 27.86 dBA

I'm surprised Themis isn't much better than Aidos.
3x 8mm pipes have same linear surface area as 4x 6mm pipes, but 3x 8mm pipes have more volume.. 133%... 92mm vs 120mm is more fin area.. 170%..
Aidos has 4x 6mm pipes; 92x92mm fan / fin area - - 75.4mm linear surface area & 113sq mm linear volume area.
Themis has 3x 8mm pipes; 120x120mm fan / fin area - - 75.4mm linear surface area & 150.7sq mm linear volume area.

Maybe for £20, the price is too high tbh

This is the king of the budget coolers now:

12 heatpipes :D

Yeah I had this one in mind but it was out of stock! Now I'm no longer interested because I went ahead with an OC and my CM 212+ Evo stood it's ground :D I'm sure the Deepcool Lucifier would provide better temps but I'm more than happy with the temps I'm getting atm :)

I have a few of those cases dacads, they will take a noctua d14 cooler and a silver arrow (provided you unscrew the silver end caps ontop of the cooler)

Cheers wazza, for not posting in my thread about coolers :p Yeah it's a decent case tbh, didn't know those caps on top of coolers could be unscrewed what would be the effect if any? Apart from being able to fit into the case :p

Silver Arrow IB-E is 2mm shorter as well as being only 67.8mm from center of CPU to left side of cooler versus 77mm for Silver Arrow SB-E

I think mine's the very first silver arrow, and no loss of cooling without the silver ends on

I didn't see your thread or I would have posted,i think those cases are fantastic for the money

Original Silver Arrow is 163mm tall, 160-161mm without caps and 73.5mm center CPU to side of cooler.

Make sure you find one with a fan that spins at <1000 RPM so it's actually quiet when idle.

No point in having 1000+ RPM blaring away with your CPU at 25-30degress.
No reason to worry about fan spinning too fast. Most motherboards control the CPU fan speed with CPU fan header using variable voltage or PWM. I control 2500rpm TY-143 fans so when CPU is below 30c fans are 700rpm, at 45c fans are 950rpm, at 60c fans are 1200rpm, at 68c fans are 1500rpm and at 75c fans are 2500rpm... but fans never go above 1100rpm because even at 100% load CPU stays below 50c. ;)

Do you use EasyTune? My CPU RPM increases with CPU temp but my system fans don't increase so I assume they are linked with System temp instead, which barely changes.

Just a little update, i got the heatsink this morning, fitted it and it is working well, can't hear the fan at all even at full load i still cant hear it, using prime95.

Stock fan temps was 50c at idle checked this before i done the install, im not sure what it was at full load.

Raijintek Themis is idling at 30C i am sure this would go a lot lower if i used better thermal paste, as such i just used what they gave me, no idea what kind it was as it came in a silver packet with no name on it. Using prime95 for about 2 hours now the max temp is 62C, i really cannot believe how quiet the fan is.
