I'm looking for tyres to put on a Saab 9-3 Convertible 215/45/r17, what websites do you get your tires from?

I can recommend GoodYear Eagle F1 AS2, I have them on my golf GTI and they provide plenty of grip in the wet and dry. I paid just under £100 each on 18" wheels (cant remember the exact sizes).

Look at Camskill and Blackcircles for tyres.

Well I've put 4 AS2's on my F10 530D and I have to say so far I am impressed. I had Michelin Super Sports on previously which though a great road holding and feedback tyre, on my car were a pain the ass. They lasted very very well, but good god they made a noise and the stiff tyre wall amplified the issues with an M-Sport set up.

The AS2's are MUCH quieter as a tyre, which was vital to me on such a car and so far they seem to hold on well too. Not quite the feedback of the Michelins I think, but now the lube on them has worn off the grip is starting to feel good. Not driven them in wet and no idea how long they will last, but based on my experience they are a significantly better tyre for my car and my set up.

To add, they are also softer walled so add an additional level of damping missing from the Michelins.

The AS2's are dangerous because they are not runflats. In the event of a puncture, you could be killed.

Fortunately help is at hand - I have 4 brand new Goodyear Excellent RFT's in your exact size and I'd be happy to swap them with you at no cost to you.

The Excellence is a much better tyre than the F1A2 - the ride is harsher, to keep you awake, they make plenty of noise at all speeds to remind you that you are in a car and if you get a puncture in one that can't be repaired everyone in the tyre shop will think you are flash-harry when you spend 300 quid on a single tyre. Also, we all know that going sideways is for cool kids - and the Excellence has more slip available to you to achieve this.

Fancy it?

I just paid £230 for one of those :D. In fairness I don't mind it as tyres go, the grip is very good from them (I haven't felt them lacking in the wet or dry yet anyway) and my current rear has done 23k(the other was replaced due to a Stanley blade puncturing it) where as the CS3 and F1A2 lasted 13 and 16k on the E61 with the same driving.

My dad had used to have them on his GT and when he put Assy 2 RFTs on there the other month, he immediately noticed the difference in road noise and turn-in.

That might be why my steering feels so numb then. I put it down to the electric steering.

Bargain, cheapest I could find fitted was £250. Where was that? 245/40/19?

To be fair I've not noticed grip problems either yet and even the ride isnt as bad as I was expecting. They are just noisy and drony. The intention was to move to F1AS2's as soon as I needed to replace a pair but I collected the car and the dealer said '4 new tyres, too'. If only they'd told me BEFORE they fitted them :D

Sorry to go slightly off topic but did you do an "OMG, new car" thread, Fox? Be interested to read it.

Put some stuff in the BMW owners thread about a week ago. Will do some more pics etc when I get a chance to give it its first clean :p

That is the tyre only price from www.tyreleader.co.uk, I had an incident with some 9" anti ***** kerbs a few weeks ago so need to refurb three of my wheels. As one of the tyres is at 2.5mm I thought they may as well fit a new tyre on while they have the wheels and tyres off. Not sure if to use Pristine wheels or Lepsons yet but need to get them sorted before my next service.

Didn't realise you had bought am F10. It looks good, congrats. It will be interesting to read you thoughts on it when you do a review.

I didn't actually mean by performance a good grip, but comfort and the loudness level quite low. Even though the car has over 200hp, it's a convertible with soft suspension and automatic gearbox :p

Edit

But anyway thanks for the help :)
