How is this absolutely useless technology correspondent still employed by the BBC?

Every time he's on the TV or I see an article by him I cringe. I don't know if he's just dumbing things down for Joe Bloggs but he consistently seems like he doesn't have a clue.

Anyone else share the same opinion?

How can you know about technology if you were born in 1958? A bit like those IT teachers who have no idea about computers.

He's a correspondent for a general-purpose news outlet, if he didn't word things in a way that was understandable to normal people then he wouldn't be doing his job.

What a daft statement. What has being born in 1958 got to do with the ability to learn new things and report on them?

But if you get rid of RC-J then how on earth is Graham Cluley going to get his soundbites into the mainstream whenever there's a virus or DPA breach?

True... however he does also come across as a bit clueless - wording things in a way others can understand doesn't mean you yourself need be almost as ignorant as your target audience.

This is what I hate about the BBC. On technology stories as-well as a couple of other things, I'm sat there thinking "Actually that's not true, whereas XYZ is true". If they're wrong about things I understand, what about the things I don't understand? Are the economists sat there in economic reports and saying the same thing? Are the foreign policy experts sat there in the foreign reports and saying the same thing? Is any of it true!

I don't have a problem with the chap - he makes things nice and simple for the BBC's audience, which for the most part is not going to give a damn about something not supporting SATA 6 or lacking the latest Haswell chip etc. etc.

Dumb statements such as this remind of a girl on a TV quizhow not long back who, upon receiving a question to do with the Norman invasion of 1066 and getting it completely wrong, complained that "How am I supposed to know that? I wasn't even born back then".

Has anyone seen the interview in windows 10. Is it me or does Rory come across as being an absolute clueless idiot.

Remember way back a few years ago when a member of the publicasked him "What happens if i have fallen for telephone IT scams or phishing scams"

Rory Answer - "just dont do it in the first place!!"

How dare you! Rory has one of the best qualifications for being a BBC News correspondent - he's married to the Vice Chairman of the BBC Trust.
