The general public seem to want a referendum on europe and none of the big parties are even listening. Well now its time to see how bad its going to hurt them i guess.

That's how I feel. I haven't yet decided whether I want to be in or out of Europe but I at least want to have the choice along with the rest of the country. If the other parties promised a referrendum then I think they would kill the UKIP vote. But it's unlikely they would do it.

If that was the case then no one would have been voting UKIP today. the BBC, Daily Mail and every other newspaper have made a asserted campaign of smear which has backfired in a spectacular fashion. I bet good money there will be loads of head scratching this weekend in the Tory, Labour, Libdem and newspaper offices.

I wish i was a fly on the wall in the upcoming meetings amongst those lot! :D

Quite the opposite, it's the negative politics at play, and it's working to UKIP hands because their drum for 'anti (EU) immigration' is ringing louder than their hidden right winger political agenda of removing workers and women's rights. Something even hardline labour voters here in ex-mining town have missed and just follow the bandwage on 'no immigrants' but not racist enough to be BNP.

There's a reason why we shouldn't have a referendum when people's opinion can be swayed by what the media prints / say, rather than people making an informed decision as to why they should or shouldn't vote for a particular party.

So instead the big parties just lie about what they will do on the run up to election, get voted for then just ignore the promises? and you think that is democracy.

The "public are too stupid to be allowed to make decisions" is approaching dictator levels of arrogance.

The only time a party will offer a referrendum is when they are 100% it will be in favour of staying in.

I wouldn't believe even if they did pledge it, we have been there before.

Links to facism?

Yes, they are closely linked with the fascist group UAF.

Well, knowing my wife within the context of our strong relationship, i suspect she will be voting Green as well, but if she wanted to go left of field and vote any other way thats her decision. I would never dare speak for her; its not my decision to make. God Bless Democracy.

I wasn't speaking for her - just relaying facts. I wouldn't be speaking for Nigel Farage if I said he will vote UKIP today.

Of course we started talking outside as you do.... seems we were ALL voting UKIP. In fact people were saying they normally dont vote in these elections but due to the media storm and the seemingly felt annoyance at being told who to NOT vote for the exact opposite has happened and they were, like me, actually making a POINT of voting for them.

And that is the saddest part of it...

the Jar Jar binks' of the UK ruining politics for the rest.:p

Is this that Brighton crap ? BRIGHTON, think about it.. Dogs on strings.... Anarchists etc etc ? EnvironMENTALists ? Anti Establishment types?

I've told my other half she can vote what she wants, as long as it is on the left political spectrum.

A referendum can't happen in the near future because the people leading the main political parties are sane and they understand how severe the implications would be should the UK leave the EU.

You told her to view for who she wants as long as it's left?
Wth?

You're unchaining her from the kitchen sink then to let her vote?

Uaf is a questionable organisation. Some very nasty people with them.

Environmentalist thugs can still be thugs.

In the same way people say UKIP is racist because some deluded old man says send them back or posts a flyer through a door with a concentration camp on it.

The green party is an Anarchist/Fascist movement because some of their supporters are nutters too ?

Humans like to argue and fight on all sides for whatever misguided reasons.

The Labour, Conservative, Liberal dems, UKIP, BNP Greens, ThirdWay, Hornchurch Residents party ARe questionable organisations. Some very nasty people with them.
