Have a new piece of garden I need to sort out (3mx12m) and rather than extending the existing lawn which sits approx 25cm higher than the new stretch I'm considering walling off the existing with garden sleepers and laying down rubber tiles to make a kid friendly play area.

Anyone done anything similar with recommendations on products or vendors?

Thanks. :)

Come on guys! Someone must have experience of this. Really want to know the same as OP lol.

Was thinking of weed sheet, sleepers, fill with little rubber bits job done. The rubber is expensive though so was hoping to come across a cool alternative idea.

Looks good.

Never done anyting like that myself and will be good to see how it turns out if you do go down that route.

One thing to consider if using the tiles you have linked too is preparing the surface for them. Form teh laying guide reckon you will be ok with them direct onto soil, but will need to spend a while with a whacker plate to ensure you have a surface that isnt going to move too much over time. Possibly look at putting some gravel down, whack that then soil followed by more whacking.......would not like to think how much you would spend on a concrete slab.....

The current strip of land is a mix of old soil/chalk/cement/rubble that has been compacted down, although not perfectly level at the moment. Originally it was home to small trees/shrubbery.

Personally we went for bark chippings (not as sharp as wood chips) and plenty safe enough. Friends of ours have this rubber mat stuff and it get so dirty and quite warm in the summer so they're going to be replacing it.
