Well tell all that BS to the dentists that have stopped immigrants from the EU using their service.
My dentist is owed many £1,000s of pounds because of them.

Do you know how much just ONE night in hospital costs? everyone should pay in for 5-10 years before they take out.
This would help the NHS no end. And before you say anything I did it ;)

You didn't choose not to go to hospital, you were just lucky.

I don't know why I am bothering to argue with your warped logic but here it goes:
1) The whole point of a nationalised health service is everyone gets free treatment, whether you a a 3 year old child that has been nothing but a burden on society, or a 70 year old who has worked for 50 years.
2) Do you really want children born in the UK not to have health care because they haven't paid?
3) Every one who is on low ages in the UK is a net drain to society, their low taxes don't cover their costs (health, security, infrastructure, education). Do you want everyone who earns less then the national average to not have health insurance?
4) Presumably if immigrants come here and don't have access to the NHS they will need health insurance, but that is precisely what they are getting by paying taxes and paying the NI. If they need to have private insurance then presumably they get refunded their tax and NI contributions?
5) Most EU immigrants have paid for health insurance for 5-10 years before entering the UK, either nationally or privately, in their home county. This is precisely the point of the EU. People can pay taxes for things like NHS in one country and if they move to another country due to work then their contributions are recognized and they can be covered by national health etc.

This is also where the EHIC card comes in really handy. In fact I made use of it just the other week in Iceland when I had to go to the hospital.

As an added note, there are some countries this (the card in particular) is valid which are not part of the EU (Iceland included), EFTA countries also make use of the card.
If we do end up leaving the EU I would imagine we would certainly rejoin the EFTA and would likely still be involved with such schemes so EU nationals getting healthcare would not stop once we left the EU.

You being such an outstanding citizen, chose not to visit hospital for 5-10 years, ensuring that you had paid enough tax into the system, that you are now able to visit one, in a medical emergency safe in the knowledge that your smugness would heal most of your wounds, and that your paid in tax would cover the rest?

meanwhile IRL :

you didn't visit a hospital because you were lucky enough not to need to

Even if people survived long enough to pay in that long without dying - one go of cancer treatment later in life could cost x100 times a lifetime of minor treatments and illnesses that someone else could have - its a stupid idea TBH

No. But anyway.

This is why I like UKIP. Put in the pot BEFORE you take out. And they MUST have insurance for the first 5 years.
That's fair enough to me. When I emigrated to Florida I had to have insurance for 10 years. The UK is a push over.

Voted this morning at just gone 10AM. Polling station is the local village church. Seemed quite quiet up there this morning, but I guess it's because it's the Euros and no-one gives a monkeys unlike a proper general election. As always in the village I was about a third of the age of everyone else :p.

That sounds just like my workplace - average working age is a generation older than myself! Not a bad thing mind as most of them just get on with their work, but I miss the banter that you get with the younger generation.

P.S. I've voted, but it was a couple of weeks ago as I've done postal votes since I've owned a property. Went for Lib Dems as always.

I can't believe you're using the US as a model for healthcare financing.

labour = nazi Lite

Am I the only one who finds stupid comparisons to Nazis rather offensive? It shows clear ignorance of the person making the comparison to the truly horrific things that happened during the last century.

That and many people here clearly dont' know what fascism actually is.

I find it pretty stupid. Its like they think the nazis are the only bad political party to have existed.

I'll ask what everyone else forgot to ask. How is your dentist owed "many £1000's of pounds" because of immigrants in universal health system? It is not possible, right?
