E46 M3's

Been a hectic few days so haven't had a chance to check the thread! Thanks for all the info guys, particularly Gibbo for the list of mods too! When you say uprated pads, are there any in particular? I've got DS2500's on mine and found them to be pretty good so far and they were great on the track.

As Gibbo says, I think I'm going to need to drive both before I decide.
Age wise, I've been driving my E46 for the last 1.5 years and am still happy with the quality of the car so that I am already happy with :)

Are there any other places to look for the M3? I've looked through almost every car on Autotrader and PH so far and have found quite a few nice ones but just curious if there is somewhere else.
I've found a fair few that have had various bits replaced in recent miles such as New clutch and Fly Wheel etc so I think I'll try and find the ideal one that has had things replaced recently tbh.

Ideally, CSL wheels will be my choice! They set it off beautifully imo.

Quite impressed with this one but at 106k miles with SMG I'm a bit dubious. Would have to replace the rear clusters with the LED ones!

My mate pretty much bought an identical car to that for 6.5k over a week ago, so I'd be offering 7k and if it really is perfect 7.5k maximum.

Other places to look check m3cutters sale section and PH mainly.

Is the Evolve map any good if the car is 100% standard?
Still same gain?
Any graphs for comparison?

I'm planning on getting one later this year so sounds like i'm all over it.

Yes it's worth every penny and just get a BMC filter, a good 20-30BHP which on an NA is impressive from a remap.

Gibbo (and others who have owned an E46 M3) how do you find the throttle on it being a fly-by-wire? The one on my 330 is extremely annoying (constant delays on driver input) and no matter how many times I do the reset trick it's never any better. Can imagine it's even more of a pain on the M3? Or is it less pronounced?

Are they all fly by wire for sure? Have to say my M3 throttles response in Sport mode is razor sharp, just as if it was a cable, so no issue. My CSL was also fine!

So maybe something is wrong with your car or they changed something on the M3's?

I'll bare that in mind then Gibbo! Will check out M3cutters too.

The throttle response after doing the reset trick on my 325i is almost perfect really. Maybe get it checked out, Vox?

Looks quite nice too, bit unsure about the Eibach springs though. Wonder if they'd be stiffer or softer than OEM M3 springs...

Not bad, but as this will be your daily car and not a track ****. Go for the newer revised models which are on 03/53 plates, easily spotted by rear LED BMW lights and these can have more goodies flashed to them such as M Track mode.

8k should get you a nice 53/04 car with 80,000 or less miles, clean and full service history is a must. Also remember if you do buy newer such as 05 the boot floor is still within warranty.

Make sure you drive at least 3-4 before buying and if your at all local to Stoke I'd happily take you out in mine.

What does the newer revision bring to the table? Turns out that m3 is 9 miles away from where I'm staying ATM so I'm going to ring the chap tomorrow and go and take a look simply because it's so close.

Spent 4 hours looking through cars tonight, brain is a bit frazzled now lol.

I'd love to take you up on that offer when I'm back on base in a few weeks mate!

My 2002 SMG E46 is the only car I ever regret selling, get one and pay attention to subframe checks.

Join m3cutters and have a look at the one for sale there, people are a bit snobbish at times but generally harmless :)

Are you sure it's the throttle and not something else?

Very few Imola Red M3's though. Still quite a rare colour as it was extra and involved a delay in delivery as an 'individual' option. Estoril Blue also lovely along with Interlagos Blue. Laguna Seca Blue not a favourite though!

Never noticed delays on my throttle or that of any of the 3 different M54B30 powered cars we've had in the family.

If you want throttle delay try a diesel :D

Strange... It might just be all in my head and I'm being picky lol.

Have driven dads Disco 4 a few times, he encouraged me to plant it from a standstill when joining a DC, there was a lot of dagging and not much moving :p
