I am in the market for a new TV to replace my aging Pioneer Kuro 508XD. The TV has excellent 2D picture quality with amazing black levels and still serves its purpose. I am going to keep the TV but want a new one for the main TV in the living room.

The thing is I don't want any of the fancy 3D and all the crap that is in modern Samsung TV's, I just want a superior 2D picture quality and I am looking for suggestions.

Whats the deal with these new 4K TV's, worth considering?

I was looking a second hand 60" Kuro Elite but not sure if thats wise being a 2010 TV and still paying over 1k for it.

Budget is £2000 - £2500!

Cheers :)

Your late to the party, plasma died 6 months ago.

If you can find one get a VT65 or ZT65 by panasonic.

Otherwise a GT60 (panasonic) or a F8500 (i think that's what samsungs last top of the range plasma was called).

They are all EOL, therefore production stopped 6 months ago and therefore are hard to find brand new.

The only other option is to buy OLED which atm is very expensive.

Look at avforums for reviews on OLED sets.

Quality costs.

Flavour of the month buzz-word features are no substitute for quality: 3D, gesture control, voice commands, personalised content, Apps.

Do you remember when 1080p was starting to break in to the TV world. It was everyone's must have feature. Yet Pioneer TVs which were the most expensive in the market were still 1024x768 for a good couple of years. Which TV brand had the best picture quality.... Pioneer.

1080p resolution was a minor part of the picture quality story. If the panel had poor blacks and inadequate colour gamut, and the TV was bad at picture processing, then the resolution itself meant very little in the end.

The same story today. High-end Panasonic plasmas (VTs and ZTs) inherited much of the Kuro technology. Sadly they're gone now and all we are left with is LED backlit LCD. :(

So one of these?

yes but if you can look for a ZT65 in order of rankings its

OLED > ZT65 > VT65 > GT60 > F8500

the ZT65 is the exact same as the VT65B apart from the glass panel has a much smaller gap between the PDP and the glass meaning it deals with ambient light better and produces blacker blacks.

it's 5" smaller for a similar price, but it's pretty much a pioneer kuro in terms on PQ.

I've just reserved a 65" VT at Richer Sounds :D

well that tv has the best plasma panel ever made in the past 5 years and likely to stay that way forever unless they make a comeback in the future somehow (but i seriously doubt it).

I own a GT50 which houses the second best panel ever made in the past 5 years.

I love the GT50 and the VT65 as well as the ZT65 are the next step up.

65" is HUGE, i'm well jelly, I only have a 50".

I ended up buying the Panasonic 65" VT with Onkyo sound bar, absolutely love it, only problem is the sound bar seems to be out on sync at times. Seems like I need to somehow disable to sound on the TV and direct it purely via optical.

A local store has its last, display model, a 60" for £1999.00 with 5 year warranty! TV is on their wall and looks mint!

Is this a good buy and, how would PS4 games play on it?

Bare in mind, theres two ZT models. America gets the ZT65 while Europe/UK gets the ZT60.

Yes. It's lovely. http://www.avforums.com/threads/the...b-owners-thread.1777653/page-62#post-20648605

I've just made a built in tv cabinet for someone with a vt65 and it was stunning to watch, even playing call of duty on the ps3 looked amazing

size of tv comes before the model e.g. 50VT65B is a 50" VT series and the 65 refers to the year/range (2013 range) and the B i think is for EU/UK

therefore a 60ZT65B is a 60" ZT series from 2013 designated for EU/UK.

50GT60 is also from 2013 as both 60+65's were released in 2013, but denotes it's using an older panel (same panel as 50 range).
