XFX 650W good enough for 770 GTX SLI?

Hi folks,

Thinking about adding a second 770 GTX and SLI them with a 2600K. Would a XFX 650W XXX Edition Modular Power Supply be enough?

I think mot people would say 750w minimum.

I wouldn't risk it, I'd be looking at a 750-850w for peace of mind.

I would say dont risk it also, a 770 uses around 250 watts per card, which would leave your psu with only 150 watts left for the rest of your system.

I have a power draw plug thing, during gaming it hardly breaks 500w, I use a 760w psu.

So that's your entire PC ~500w? With 80% efficiency that's somewhere around 400w for the system, seems low don't you think.

it will be fine for gaming. probably not if you run Furmark and prime95 at the same time.

I ran GTX670 OC SLI on a Corsair HX650 and it was all good.

but if you want to squeeze every MHz out of them and the CPU, you should look for a new one.

I ran SLI 780s for a while on a Seasonic X-series 660w with no problems...
A little headroom would've been nice but I never had any issues...

It was running over 90% efficiency, and Its accounted for.
I do have logs but I'm not on the PC at the moment so not able to post them.

780ti sli max overclock maximum draw is about 670 watts, no overclock about 600 watts

OK it looks like I might be safe without OC on GPU or CPU then. Need that extra bit of juice for BF4 at 2560x1440.

im running a 3770k and a 7990 on a 650w psu. the 7990 draws about the same power as sli 770s.

tl;dr = yes the 650w psu will be fine

Just for reference my PC ([email protected], 2 x 7950's @ 1Ghz) uses about 520W in games and benchmarks)

Some people seem to go abit crazy with their PSU's thinking they need way more than they actually do. Then again you have to remember that most PSU's are at the peak of their efficiency at about 50% load, and obviously if your PSU is under less stress it'll be quieter aswell.
