Wolfenstein: The new order breaks 2gb

This is what the settings are for me 2gb 680 installed. I cant set any higher so presume it's max ?

Try disabling V-Sync as it's meant to be a little broken and also set shadow resolution to 2048. Users are saying this should give a better experience. I don't know how you have those options but best bet it could be the 280x like you said.

Those images were from texture loading problems or something i found on a website. Not sure if its to do with this or not if im honest.

Another quote from HardOcp.

Therefore we set the game to 1920x1200 and found out we were restricted yet again in another way. On the GeForce GTX 770, which has 2GB of VRAM on board we found "Ultra" quality setting was no longer there! That's right, it was gone, we could only set the quality to the highest setting of "High" on the GeForce GTX 770, even at 1920x1200. Now, "Custom" still existed, so we attempted to set a custom "Ultra" setting that matched Ultra settings. When we ran the game we experienced horrible framerates in the single digits, and even a crash to desktop with an error box saying the video card doesn't meet the hardware requirements.

We learned from this that video cards with 2GB of VRAM are limited in the graphics options you can set for this game. The AMD Radeon R9 280X video card with 3GB of VRAM had the "Ultra" setting show up just fine and the video card ran just fine at "Ultra."

Moogley's can you just select the ultra preset without going into custom settings. It seems you can select it through custom but not just the preset. The level they played on as you can see from about hit the Vram limit.

We are performing our run-through in Chapter 3 "A New World." We begin when we get out of the car, and end the run-through after killing the two boss robots. This run-through involves a lot of outdoor graphics, and weather graphics, as well as long view distances, and interior graphics. There are explosions and a lot of effects in use. We kill all the enemy moving through, which is necessary to progress in the level.

Perhaps when you get to this level you could test out your gtx680 and see if you run into similar problems.

This is what I can set on a 290X, exactly the same as yours.

I answered this above. You can set this in custom but can you select the ultra preset on it's own. Hardocp could do the same with the 770 but on the level they played it was a slide show due to Vram and that's why the ultra preset is not available from what i understand.

What i mean is where it says Graphics quality can you select ultra.

I can select ultra as well it lowers the settings for screen space reflections though.

It's not been a slide show for me yet but it runs pretty poor but it did on the 280x as well.

I think the slowdown is more to do with the awful engine rather than the V-Ram running out.

HardOcp said it's playable easy on the 280x and they are pretty picky about what is playable. On the level they tried the 770 2gb ran out of Vram. I take it that setting going to medium is still not ultra but to be honest you being able to select ultra is confusing.

The virtual texturing being used very inefficiently then. The whole idea of mega textures is that it can stream what it needs to be used into memory, and was built primarily with performance in mind on lower end systems (Xbox360 in particular with it's 512MB VRAM).

Don't know about moogleys, but at the beginning of Wolfenstein, while trying to jump out the plane on max settings@1080p, it ran out of vram on my 670.

I seemed OK on mine ? I think tbh it runs pretty badly on either 680 or 280x for me.

Saying that on Xbox one it runs really nice and looks the same to me.
