Effects it In this game, or is it just a dig without proper knowledge of what is causing the problem the guy seems to be having.

Ok so back from testing.

Few things to confirm, this game is SERIOUSLY heavy. 780 SLI Average at 954/1550 was around 50fps, minimums into the 30's, highs into the 70's.

SLI is working fine, 90%+ on each card with 337.81

Chap on twitter is talking complete **** if he thinks a 760 is averaging 44fps at ultra...a 760 (2GB) won't run full ultra due to soft cap texture cache of 3GB. His CF results sound similar to my SLI results, similar cards, similar results.

Some screenies for your enjoyment:

Apologies for potato quality, would appear MSIAB's full quality jpg's aren't a patch on FRAPS' pngs.

Texture setting does a titanfall-style cache, usage fires straight up to 3GB and stays there, how much it actually needs I don't know.

Remember this may not be the version everyone is enjoying on Tuesday, for all we know a performance patch or release day drivers are due upon release.

Edit: settings used are per screenies above, apart from texture quality which was ultra (3GB).

On a side note is it worth a buy if you like gta iv?
Deciding whethers its one for pre order or just wait till its -75% sale

watch dogs will run better on nvidia, for the simple reason is that they added a lot of techs from nvidia's library to optimise their cards, and probably slow the other vendor's cards in the process, same will be for unreal engine 4.
if the r9 290x runs like a 760 then lol

Single 290X @ 1440P.

Have to run medium settings with AA turned off to get playable frame rates.

I think this game just needs an optimized driver and it will be fine. The game doesn't look anywhere near as good as I thought going by the first reveal compared to the actual release.

Fun to play though, hacking / driving mechanics are fluid. Not sure I like the vigilanty save people missions, seems like it's been tacked on to pad out the game, but guess most games do this anyway.

7.5/10 for me at best lol.

Back to Wolfenstein :p

Cheers for the review. Sounds a bit disappointing. What else is there to do in the game beside the main missions?

The actual mechanics of the game are solid, but it feels like another GTA, the wow factor of the reveal graphics years ago isn't there. That's what made it stand out. In reality it just isn't that special. Could be argued that GTA IV looks just as good.

The main storyline looks ok, but same old same old, revenge, blah blah blah. Side quest, fetch missions and vigilantly stuff. Nothing really standout here.

Vigilantly stuff makes sense in something like Batman, that's what the game is about. He is a hero. So I don't mind it in a game like that, but this Watch Dogs where he's a criminal who's had some bad luck, would he really risk his life for fetch missions and save the people? Just feels padded out.

Main story probably worth a play through, but it's just nothing revolutionary, like you would expect for the amount of hype this game received. The hype was mainly due to the amazing graphics / lighting in the initial reveal, with that not making the actual release. This is take or leave it kind of deal.

You're saying the game looks like GTA V while playing on medium settings with no AA. Surely it looks much better on ultra with a tad of AA. I'm shocked that a 290x is struggling. Edit. Just noticed the 1440p at the top :D Makes me feel a bit more hopeful for me at 1080p

Crossfire = dogcrap, flickering tress and plants, and <40fps
Single card = 50fps, medium settings

Awful

What settings are you using? Presets? Is there a cf profile in the 14.4's? If not try force AFR via CCC.

Will have a play later and see which setting is the most demanding.

Tbf, it's a pirate copy you guys are playing and moaning about performance. Wait until it's released and if there's performance patches and/or driver updates to increase performance.

Better to wait and see what its like on release, probably quite a hefty day 1 patch.

Honestly, his comment "a little birdie tells me its going to be improved before release" no **** Sherlock - common sense.

How many big budget titles have been released in full working order? Let alone a game that's been delayed more than the rog swift. I wouldnt be surprised if this still needed extensive patching 3/4 months down the line.
