Evening,

Was on the phone to EE tonight, problems logging into my account (username password not correct, mobile phone number doesn't exist?!?! yet when i 'open' a new account, there is already an account with my number ) Got that sorted out now and at the same time i asked when my upgrade was due. Tomorrow! :D

So the question is is there anything worth getting?

I'm currently using the HTC One X and my monthly contract is £20, 300 mins, 300 text, unlimited landline calls and 3gb data useage.

What sort of phones are on that price point and what is your budget. There is a lot of devices to get right now, including but not limited too; HTC One M8, Galaxy S5, iPhone 5s (Would wait for 6 at this point), LG G3 (will be announced on the 27th), Note 3, Sony Z2, Lumia 930/1530 (if your interesting in WP) at the high end.

Not really looking to spend that much if anything. Looking at the deals on the website, I'll probably have to increase the contract to a min 24quid a month for unlimited texts, 1000 minutes and only 1gb of data. Depending on which phone i go for i could be spending anything up to 190quid up front for the handset. Don't really feel inclined to spend that much though as my priorities aren't for a phone!

Same boat here but I have decided to eek out another few months if not a year out of my Galaxy S3. With a custom ROM installed its as slick as it ever was and I cannot see what having a new phone will bring to me, other than being a new thing to play with, for which I will have to increase my monthly outgoings. I went SIM only and am now paying £8 month vs £27 whilst on the contract.

The way the market is going I can't see me taking another contract phone again anytime soon. If you consider the quality of the £100 Motorola Moto G then I reckon you'd be mad to get into a situation where you pay c£7-800 for a phone and contract over a two year period.

I'll run the S3 until it breaks or a Nexus 6 arrives in which case I may just buy a handset and stick with my SIM only deal.

Make sure you check other mobile sites such as mobiles.co.uk and buymobilephones.net, their deals will probably be significantly less than those seen on the EE website. You may get a better retention deal but as you appear to be a low useage customer I wouldn't bet on it.

If you're a light user I would wait for the Moto G LTE version, even for a cheap phone it's still a pretty fast phone.

Wouldn't be looking any further than an HTC One M8 or an iPhone 5S if you love Apple. The HTC One M8 is a seriously awesome phone.

I don't think these current phones are worth the extra over the previous gen, ie. The s5 over the s4 or the HTC one m8 over the HTC one. I'd go for one of the s4 deals if I were you, pay nothing for the phone and around £19-£23 per month depending on your needs, with possible cashback.

I have to confess to only using the s5 briefly but nothing stood out at all for me, absolutely nothing.

Been looking over the phone options suggested this weekend.

iPhone - Stupid prices so ignored these from the off.

No Motorola phones on offer (on my upgrade anyway)

z2 - Price plan options start at over £30 which still incurs a fee of £260 for the handset

htc one m8 - again over £30 per month but handset price of £109

Sadly I think I'm convincing myself away from all suggestions! I was also looking to get a smaller phone as the one x is too big and most of the suggestions are larger phones as well! :D

I did see the HTC One 'mini' but its as big as the phone I've already got. There is the 'mini' 2 on pre order which I'm leaning towards. Whilst it wont resolve the size requirement i can get it for free at £29.99 with unlimited calls / texts along with 2Gb data on 4G (not available where i am though) Any lesser monthly plan will incur a 90quid cost which I'm not wanting to do.

Looks like a solid deal, I would personally pay a little extra to get EE4G extra with 4GB, it won't make a difference now but there meant to have 99% coverage by 2015, and for £32.99 it seems like a decent deal to get double data, and the other added bonuses.

Also get some cashback with topcashback,.

Should get £48.30 for either plan.

In a similar position myself.

The best deals I have seen are the HTC One M8 and Xperia Z2 through dialaphone for £30 a month/no upfront fee. That's for 1000 minutes, unltd texts and 1gb data.

You can also get £70 cashback through Quidco.

I'm going to phone EE directly tomorrow to see what they can offer.

HTC One M8 - free, £28 a month, unlimited text, 500 mins and 500mb data
Or
£49.99 for phone, £28 a month, unlimited texts, 500 mins and 1g data.

Also £65 cashback on topcashback so effectively around £2.50 a month off the line rental.
