Injured baby Magpie ;(

Try and find some young birds eggs, or young birds. Place them in the box with the Magpie. Those are its favourite things to eat.

In a similar situation last year I used a shovel to swiftly end the poor things sufferings, I did not enjoy this at all and was left feeling a bit sick but I knew I had done the right thing .

Its no loss that the magpie might die, they are evil birds just as bad as crows, they pluck chicks from nests and are complete opportunists, they are essentially pests!:o

The magpie is ******, there is now only one merciful action left to perform.

Sever it's head clean off using a shovel as a makeshift guillotine.

Or phone RSPCA.

Crows are incredibly intelligent, fascinating creatures. They are frequently observed solving complex puzzles whilst using and creating tools.

Most of what happens in the wild is pretty nasty, it most definitely isn't evil though. They are just doing what's necessary to survive!

Dump it back out in the garden and let nature do the rest.... they are a pest.

I once witnessed 4-5 of them attacking a cat - and when I say attacking, they were temping it and actually pecking at it while it hid in a bush. I had to scare them away and calm the cat down. They do zero good to the food chain and usually steal smaller birds eggs before they get a chance to hatch.... Most people here would regard them as vermin anyway.

They are also responsible for scaring off smaller birds from your garden (Robins, sparrows etc) and pretty much descimate Bee populations if you have flowers or plants.

i love the way people refer to them as pests yet forget how cruel humans are and the damage we do to everything around us

corvids intelligence is incredible how they assess and implement a method rather than trial and error

agreed - i've seen a gang of 5-6 literally peck to death and eat a baby pigeon alive in my garden

they are a disgusting creature and should be exterminated - they're no better than rats

There is a "gang" of magpies that regularly dig up our lawn.... it makes a right mess, I am not too bothered they do this, they are only looking for food.

They are clever buggers though, if I chase them off, they fly off "calling out" as they go and land on the roof out of sight... then the cheeky sods come and have a look to see if I have gone!!! It makes me laugh everytime!

Corvids also show memory for individual people/animals. When you come out they will know it's you and that you are coming to chase them!
