The cooker hood I've got now sticks out too far and I keep banging my head, it's also too big for our little kitchen and in hindsight we shouldn't have bought it. I've seen one - Baumatic 600GL for about £200. Has anyone got one of these, or similar, fitted? It's not for extracting outside, just re-circulating. I'd be happy for an extraction one fitted but the Mrs doesn't want any more work done in the kitchen.

Could you mount the existing hood higher above the hob? How high above the hob is it currently?

I've got a Caple one. Mine's ducted though so can't comment on the effectiveness of a recirculating one.

Not sure about cost since it was bundled in with the rest of the kitchen

Are you sure? I was talking to them two weeks ago about a pump for my dishwasher.

100% sure. Dishwasher pumps are pretty much generic.

GIAS have bought the Baumatic brand. Baumatic never made anything to begin with, they badged up products.

Spares are like hens teeth at the minute.

Is it just me or are some cooker hoods now stupidly complex.

We repaired an Elica hood on Friday, the cost of the thing is  It had three PCBs and three transformers to control two lights and a motor!

Baumatic name bought by hoover, as oldcoals say badged up products, dedietrich also bought by some shiek.

Have you looked at the wall mounted ones or down draught :)

Fitted one of these recently, very unimpressed for such an expensive item.
First one was faulty (latches were weak on front so kept dropping forward) and the replacement isn't much better.

I hate cooker hoods, being 6'1" it does my back in leaning into them, but totally agree way to much electronics for what should be a simple thing :D

Surprised by that only issues i've had with these are a few rocker switches and 1 user interface iirc :)
