Lib Dems are basically handing their seats on a plate to UKIP. May as well not both in next years election.

Just seen the results. UKIP, wtf. I hope the 64% who didn't vote are holding their heads in shame! but I doubt it.

Democracy sucks.

Happy to say Bristol only gave them 1 seat out of 70 though.

Last time I went to Bristol, outside of the few areas which are lovely, there exists **** hole after **** hole.

No wonder really.

Lol, because everyone that didn't vote would have voted for any party that isn't UKIP?

UKIP are getting all these votes because the majority want them in, not because they're the crazy minority.

They're getting them because people are not happy with the 'big 3', it's just a fashion thing, to try and make a statement.

Yes, probably. One-policy parties attract people with strong emotions and opinions and aren't particularly comparable. There'll be far more people who would have voted for one of the 3 main parties but weren't sure of the difference than those who wanted to vote UKIP but didn't.

If mandatory voting was inforced, im pretty sure UKIP wouldn't be where they are right now :)

I have to say that I am totally embarrassed that the ward where I live elected a UKIP councillor in the local elections.

To make matters even worse I had the misfortune to open our front door when he was on his 'press the flesh' rounds. I wasn't entirely sure if he was a candidate or had come to mug me such was his demeanour along with a total absence of debating skills.

Has the British electorate gone completely mad?

keep telling your self that or believing it's the economy.

lets face it farage is the only one who seems like a normal bloke that says what the others are scared to say and stands up to europe

to many spin doctors, to much BS, reporters haven't been able to get a proper answer from politicians for years...

I still remember when labour puppet said the same answer to the same question 5 times or however many it was whilst continuing to ignore the question asked.

it's BS like that all the time from the big party leaders that caused this and their inability to listen to genuine concerns

Welcome to every city. And I think you missed my point?

I get your point about people not voting. In my eyes, it's disgraceful people have a wonderful opportunity to help vote in the future, but are too apathetic to care.

My point about Bristol is that the elements that make up a large swathe of the population are not the sort to be voting in a anti immigration party...

Lol at the idea that Farage gives a straight answer to a question. He's as much of a politician as any of the others, that people see him as "one of the ordinary blokes like you and me" is a fantastic bit of PR.

Im also pretty sure you'd be wrong :)

even if it is just PR they are in touch with the public enough to pull it off.

anyway I did say "seems a normal bloke" as opposed to a puppet with spin doctors that is incapable of answering a straight question without asking if it's okay first

Yeah I had a ukip moron knock on my door on Thursday, called him a racist **** and he quickly ran away lol

Anyway I have no idea what the draw to ukip is, why are people voting ukip in local elections, when they are a national one issue party, they have no local agenda

Anyway the EU elections will see this country even more of a laughing stock with ukip representing us in the EU parliament. This is hardly representative of next years election, the turnout is so low it looks like only ukip voters bothered
