I just came back from holiday in chania crete. We were due to fly out on the 24th and arrived at the airport 3 hours early , checked in online and then waited in one of the waiting rooms for the flight to come up on the screen. We waited and waited and nothing comes up on the board - we assumed plane was late.

However what i didnt realise was the room we were waiting in the tannoy was broken so we did not hear them call our flight and was only when i went into the main area I heard them call out names. We run to the gate where our flight was but they wouldnt let us on so had to get a flight the next day.

The next day I took photos of the screen 10 mins before we were due to depart (i knew what gate this time) and still nothing displayed on the screen. THe only nnouncement was a lady shouting which most people could hardly hear - Had i been waiting in the waiting room where the flight took off the day before I would not have heard it.

Anyway do I have a case for claiming my 80 euros back ?

You don't really have a case imo

You knew the departure time and could have found the gate and boarding times from other screens/sources

If anything I'd guess easy jet probably aren't responsible for the screens or tannoys or the info provided on it unless they have supplied the wrong information

I'd put it down to experience

As above, i believe there will be a clause somewhere that states it's your responsibility to keep an eye out on the departure times. I think it's Manchester Airport i've been to where they don't even announce departures/gate information.

Sadly people are right in saying you'll get nothing from Easyjet. The failure wasn't to do with the airline, it was the infrastructure of the airport that was at fault.

At best they'll give you contact details to complain to the airport's management.

Unfortunately I agree with everyone else. As someone who flew quite regularly last year, I learnt to always double and triple check my flight gate and departure time from multiple sources. Some airports don't make any announcements at all so it's your responsibility to get this info for yourself. If the airport does make achievements, it's simply out of courtesy.

So you sat in a waiting room for 3 hours without thinking of asking someone about your flight?

Waiting room = bar I assume?
